Surprise visit... wonderful surprise!
Feb 2019 • Couples
After a two day trip to Cordoba my wife surprised me with a trip to Priego de Cordoba an hour and a half away from the city. She remembered I'd looked up the world's finest extra virgen olive oil, and discovered Venta el Baron had been chosen 5 times in recent years. So here we were at Priego, home of the world's finest! Fabulous!
I still don't know how you get titles like that (very subjective!) But, for as long as it lasts ,I now have two and a half litres in my kitchen! Awesome!
Arriving there it wasn't as I would have expected, kind of modern and unassuming, but what an experience! If you get the chance, go there. You'll feel so good walking out with such a fine treasure. And it's unlike any olive oil I've ever tasted! Wonderful!

Rated the best olive oil in the world
Mar 2016 • Couples
We had read on the internet about the world's best olive oils, and since we would be in the area, we decided to drive to the mill where the top rated olive oil is made. We exited off the Cordoba to Malaga freeway and drove a very pleasant and scenic 25 minutes to Priego de Cordoba. The mill is visible to your left on a hill, near the exit into town. You drive up to the office and park near the loading dock. The showroom is small but offers their several varieties that they produce. Venta del Baron was rated #1 in the world in 2015. We bought a large tin and several bottles. With our first meal after returning to the states it was indeed some of the best we've ever tasted. The prices are much cheaper that purchasing on Amazon.
