About
Hope was our first rescue in January 2004, Dusty the second. Since then over 450 donkeys have been taken into our refuge here in Corfu. As a refuge we aim to give: the old a safe and happy retirement; the sick a chance of cure; the injured the chance of recovery; the abused the chance of regaining trust and hope and the abandoned the feeling of security again. Take a look on our website for more information, pictures and a detailed map.You are very welcome to visit us, see the work we do and experience the calm company of our donkeys.

Great to see all the animals being looked after ,worth half hour of everyone's holiday. Brushed the donkeys and had friendly cats and dogs following us around . Donation box on the exit .

Must see during Corfu stay. Lovely animals in calm and cozy place. They’re cute and treated like a stars;-) Road could be moderate difficult but worth to „conquer”;-)

A little bit of donkey heaven

If you like animals and want to understand and help care for some that haven’t had the best of lives - go. Just grooming a sad looking donkey who really appreciates the attention is wonderful. Well kept place and good natured people need our support. Take water it’s a little out of the way and can get hot in the afternoon. Need to ware a mask too.

A must do if you have any heart for the animals of this world.

You must visit. I was astonished at how well kept and cared for were not only the 37 donkeys but all the cats, dogs, a horse and even a rabbit that seem to have arrived. The grounds are exemplary, the donkeys wander free and nuzzle up. Not easy to find but well, well worth the effort. Absolutely astonishing commitment from all involved. Brilliant.
Take a hankie and as many euros as you can spare. I’m going back next week it was that moving. Superb !

A lovely donkey sanctuary, where they really care about abandoned donkeys. The animals are taken care of very well. Really recommend taking the Rocky road to see these sweet animals!

A very special place
Aug 2021 • Couples
This wonderful place is a must to visit. The staff is very kind and they do not only show you the place, but they also tell you the stories of their rescued donkeys, cats, dogs and horses, their qualities, their suffering and their progresses and they teach you an important lesson of love. To finally be able to see some animals with a difficult story being safe and loved It’s really heart-warming and it reminds you that the most important thing in life are helping and being kind to the others, humans and non-humans.

This was a highlight of our trip. This group does wonderful work and provides a caring home for many animals. They offer tours which provided us a lot of information about donkeys in general. I highly recommend visiting.

We absolutely loved the Donkey Rescue. As soon as we arrived a very nice lady showed us around and explained the history of this rescue and introduced us to many of the donkeys and other animals. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes animals :)

There is not much I can add that hasn't been said already. I'd strongly encourage people to go to the sanctuary for a small tour by the friendly staff and for the opportunity to get to meet some vert friendly and well cared for animals.
