Wonderful alpine lake to visit with kids
Jun 2021 • Family
This is a beautiful alpine lake with incredible mountain views. It is perfect for those days when you want a pretty location but cannot/do not want to hike. There is parking beside the lake (pricey but handy, we paid 7 euro for they day, I believe the hourly rate is 2 euro) and you can simply go to the lake side or restaurant or take the path that circles the lake. I recommend you do take the path! It is easy, stroller friendly and it has nice info panels to learn about the lake and its animals. Perfect destination for a day out with kids

Nice small lake, some restaurants around and easy access. Nothing particularly spectacular but looks like a good place for a pleasant walk.

Definitely worth a visit!

This lake is less famous, but has nothing to envy the well-known Braies lake. The Dobbiaco lake has a wonderful clear water and there's an easy (flat) circular walk around the lake that will take you through the forest, the river and some beautiful small beaches. You will appreciate the amazing diversity of its flora and fauna (birds!). On the lake you will also find a bar, a restaurant and a camping.

Magnificent lake with great scenic views all around. Great place! Amazing colours and clean. The air is magic and the walking area around the lake hides lots of interesting facts. A must if you the area!

Easy walking, very scenic, be careful where you stop for a drink…
Sep 2019
We visited here when staying in Dobbiaco on a walking trip, we had done an easy walk that morning and decided this would be an excellent option to fill an afternoon and so make it a relatively easy day of 10 to 12 miles walked.
It’s easily walkable from the town, you’ll be there in less than 45 minutes for sure.
It’s a very scenic lake, the approach from the town is possibly the most scenic viewpoint in my view.
There’s a circular walk around the lake and like the walk from town it’s all pretty much on the level and can be done in around an hour even with frequent stops for taking photo’s.
Once around the lake you’re back at the places on lake shore for drinks and food.
We stopped at the bar and eatery which has decking alongside the lake, we fancied a drink and a snack so asked for a menu, we were told they didn’t have a menu for either food or drinks. Quite how on earth we were supposed to know what to order without a menu was beyond me but people behind us were eating cold meats and cheese and someone sitting down near us later on ordered strudel. In our week in Dobbiaco this bar and eatery was the one place I’d say we’d not bother going back to.
We had a beer and a glass of wine and the view was pleasant on what was a fairly warm September afternoon.
Worth a visit as either as a detour on a longer days walking or just to fill a few hours on a lazier day, recommend you take a wide angle lens or camera or phone with a panoramic facility to fit it all in.

Beautiful little like

Beautiful little lake on the verge of the mountains just a minute drive from the road. Worth taking the detour and enjoy the wonderful mountain scenery. There are restaurants and hotels just nearby but they are not on the shore and therefore don't interfere with the scenery.

Beautiful lake with a great hike around it
Apr 2019 • Family
We are just back from this area and highly recommend it. We had two little kids and we still did the hike around the full lake. We went around the full way and we are so glad we now did. We would have missed out on stunning views and adventures as we walked through sections of snow and ice. It made for some adventure for the family. It was pretty busy while we were there due to Easter holidays but it was still so worth it. Parking is worth noting, there is a little car park which is free before the main car park next to the hotel. It fills up so quickly though so be sure if you want the free car park to get there well before 10am. The car park next to the lake and the hotel gets packed quickly too and costs €6 for 2hrs.

Must see in Dolomites
Jul 2018 • Family
Is situated in the upper Val Pusteria valley, between the Three Peaks and the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Parks. You can take a trip by pedal boat or rowing boat, or just a leisurely walk around the lake (2-hour walk around 4.5 km).
