Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Keimiöniemi Fishing Cabins (Keimiöniemen kalapirtit) are one of the Seven Wonders in Finland. This was a dwelling place as early as in the Stone Age. First wooden fishing cabins were built in the 16th century.
Nowadays there are still 18 fishing cabins and storehouses made of log. Most of them were built in the 19th century. Some of those preserved fishing cabins are as old as from the 18th century.
These fishing cabins are privately owned and they are still in active use. So you can't go inside these cabins. However, you may always (24/7) walk around them, on courtyards, and admire these historical buildings. And it is totally free without any admission fee. Notice that there aren't any services in the area (no toilets, no cafeteria etc).
Keimiöniemi Fishing Cabins are situated in Muonio (Keimiöniemi Peninsula), on the Lake Jerisjärvi, between Kutuniva and Rauhala. There is a small sign from the road between Kutuniva and Rauhala. By car you can drive next to these fishing cabins (less than 200 meters from the parking place). If you come by bus, you have to walk two kilometers from the nearest bus stop.
Nearest services (toilets and a cafeteria) are situated in Hotel Jeris (2.5 kilometers) and in Hotel Tunturikeimiö (aka Keimiötunturin Maja, 3 kilometers) if they are open. Remember to visit Keimiotunturi Fell in the same way, because it is situated only 3 kilometers from Keimiöniemi Fishing Cabins.
This is one of the most interesting historical sites in Lapland!

Interesting old fishing cabins. You can park car next to the road and take short walk to the lake and fishing cabins.

hello there !
I'd like to visit the fishing cabins on tuesday... but I have 2 questions (hoping I could have answers before getting there !) : are the cabins reachable during winter ? and the location on your map is quite different than the one I get with the address : which one is THE one ? :)
thanks in advance.
