It is absolutely amazing and can’t recommend it enough. I have been training freediving in different places and scuba diving in so many more. Cala d’Oliva Diving is just great and to me certainly stands out! For freediving first of all the entire setup is fantastic - two boats, each with 2 lines ...so no swimming out with a buoy. They are fully equipped in case you need to rent anything and you can even do VWT with them. What I think is also important is that you decide if you want to take a more sportive approach or a more yoga-mindful route. Either is possible and they are absolutely good in both (some schools are clearly tilted towards one or the other - here you have a good holistic approach!). If possible I would also recommend any of the snorkelling and scuba diving you can book yourself in. I didn’t do scuba this time but I am sure it must be great. Visibility is among the best I have ever experienced - usually you can see the line 30m down - so imagine. Most IMPORTANTLY - Alessandro, Sanda and the entire team are wonderful. They are extremely professional, very conscious about safety, on top of even little things and really super nice and warm hearted!! Both are absolutely wonderful and amazing. I trained with Sanda and Julie Matesco for 3 weeks and improved all my PBs by quite a lot. Sanda, a competitive freediver herself, is extremely good in spotting errors and helping to improve. Great choice working with her and benefitting from all her own knowledge and experiences. Julie is also extremely experienced and worked as safety freediver for long. So you can be sure that you are in great hands. Julie is absolutely lovely, great teacher and very patient. With Julie I did my AIDA 3 and she never gets tired to grind things if you want or need to get better. She really helped me to gain confidence for deeper and longer dives and I felt in very good hands all the time and safe. Sanda and Julie are absolute amazing instructors from who I learned a lot - the stuff that is in manuals but most importantly things, which are not written anywhere but come with experience. What to say, I am thrilled and can’t wait to get back. On the downside there is really not much to say. The only thing would be a recommendation: It is hard to get a bed on Asinara and well, therefore you should book well in advance if you want to stay on Asinara. I have been commuting everyday between Asinara and Porto Torres for three weeks as I was too late making my reservation for Hotel / Hostel on the island. It absolutely feasible commuting everyday but I missed on chilling out on the evenings with everyone.

Cala d'Oliva diving was the highlight of our vacation (and of the year!). My partner and I spent a week free diving with Alessandro, Gigi, Luca, and Alberto and it was an amazing experience. Not only are they excellent instructors, who show great passion in what they do - I keep telling friends I have never seen someone so excited about equalization! - but they are just amazing people. So kind, passionate, and thoughtful and they really value giving people the best experience they can and it shows. A not so small side note - the techniques they taught us also took us from diving to depths of 27-30 meters to 38-40, a huge jump in such a short time and for people that just dive recreationally on occasion. There are many other pluses as well. The dive sites are quite close to the dive site and the shore, which removes a lot of the discomfort that sometimes going with diving. And the water is a blue that you just want to eat...or emblazon into your memory somehow. I have been dreaming of free diving almost every night since I left. The dive shop also has reasonable prices, particularly for being in such a remote location. To be honest it felt more like we were visiting a group of friends than paying someone to take us diving. We cannot wait to go back!
