A very sleek touristy spot with an admission fee. But, it is, after all, the equator. There is a huge monument in the center with the cardinal directions marked, north, south, east, west. You can stand with one foot in the northern hemisphere and one foot in the southern. There are restaurants and souvenir shops, many exhibits in separate buildings.... More

Although it can be crowed around the major attractions it is still worthwhile. The guides were very informative and when else will you have the opportunity to straddle the Equator and make a fool of yourself trying to walk a straight line while perfectly sober. Take your passport into the site with you and have it stamped.

Once far from the maddening crowd, Quito has grown and is knocking on the door. A taxi from the centre cost $30 for the return trip that took 45 minutes. Entry was £3.50 but splash out $7 and see the museums and planatarium too. Allow yourself time. I rushed it but allow time as there is much to see and... More

This was quite a fun place to visit. There's a tower and a bunch a of museums to visit but you need to buy tickets. We just bought the entry ticket and no more. This was a fun afternoon and a nice way to spend a bit of time. The chocolate shop/museum is really nice!

Our driver (who we hired through our hotel) took us to the "Middle of the Earth" and we had such a great time there. He explained everything in detail and we saw some great things there.

Be a tourist for a while and enjoy the experience. There are some good shops there that don't gouge. Their prices are fair. There are also some legitimate artists doing some nice work. It's an easy ride from Quito and worth the time. Like some other things when you're a tourist, you may not get the chance again.

This must be one of the best Equator centers anywhere in the world. The entire complex takes around 3 hours to see and has everything from museums to cafes to parks and planteriums. Ticket cost 7.5$

Spoiler alert: the Equator is apparently a band 5 km wide, so there's not a single, wafer thin line that we can straddle and be in both hemispheres. But the good news is, no one back home knows this! So come here and take the pic! They have the Equator painted on the ground, lots of 0 0' 0" signage... More
