Overlooking the harbour, in a stunning position, this could be a fabulous hotel or apartments. It’s however (according to our rep) owned by the whole village so nobody is really responsible for it and as such it’s just sinking further in disrepair.

A few minutes walk up from the left hand side of the harbour up some steps, it’s an easy walk and worth going up if only for the views.

We walked to Potos on the seaside path and you have to walk past it.

At sunset, when it’s lit up and the moon was also out, it made some good photos

Spooky

Perched on the hillside this spooky reminder of the past dominates the little village of Limenaria. Worth a visit but don’t expect much. Great views at sunset.

Walk up some steps from the harbour on the left hand side. It’s fenced of but the gate is open and you can look round. It’s in a poor state so careful if you go inside. It’s got rubbish in the grounds and graffiti everywhere. Very sad as it could become a tourist attraction. Needs too much money spending on it I guess.

An Amazing Old Building with Stunning Views
Aug 2018 • Couples
It is probably the first time that I have written about an old derelict building, but this is such an amazing old place that stands overlooking the town.

It was a short walk up to the Palace from the town; however you can easily drive and park near the building. I think originally you were not allowed around the Palace, probably for health and safety reasons, but the fence and gates are in a state of poor repair and people have made there way through into the grounds.

On walking into the grounds you are immediately amazed by the building and you can easily imagine what it must have been like in its prime - it does make you sad that it has fallen into such a state of disrepair, for whatever reason.

We looked into the building through the open doors but we did not go in the building as it did not look safe; however some of the structure inside was impressive. The window frames were made of wood and show how elegant the building was in its day.

On walking round the building you get an amazing view of the town below.

I am glad we visited the old Palace, we can see it every evening when having a meal. It is worth a visit if you are in the area. In addition there are some lovely walks in the area of the Palace if you are feeling energetic.

Such a sad but beautiful building
Aug 2018 • Couples
We were directed to go and explore this building by our rep who called it the 'haunted house'. It's an amazing building sitting in a prime position overlooking the town of Limenaria. It's an easy climb up the steps to reach this abandoned house or you can go a slightly easier route by going by the road and across the bridge. This building has had several incarnations but was abandoned and then taken over by the Greek authorities with the view that it would be brought back to life as part of a project. Given that project expired over 10 years ago it's unlikely that this will happen. From the house you can get wonderful views and there are the remains of what look like smelting towers. The building itself is in terrible disrepair but you can walk through the ground floor and see how beautiful it once was. There is a cafe on the beach below but that is a steep climb down. This building also has its sad story told in English at the entrance and it really does sound like it has been left just to fall apart. The locals speak of it with love and affection and if you are in Limenaria you should take time to visit this beauty.

Worth a look, beautiful building even though run down
Jul 2018 • Couples
We walked up the steps/hill to the palace and it was definitely worth it. Although run down it is worth having a wander around, you can imagine how amazing it would have been. Although it looks fenced off, there are actually sections in the fences which allow you into the palace.

Just up from here is a folk museum, only open in the evening (1 euro entry), very small but was interesting and I liked looking at the old photos of Limenaria. From what I could understand the university is looking to rebuild/renovate area, including the palace, we saw some models that students had made in the room just down from the museum bit.

It is worth a short visit to look at this palace and the amazing views.

You pass the derelict palace on the way to Metalia Beach it is such a shame it is going to ruin. It must have been a lovely building.

Historical building
May 2018 • Couples
Such a beautiful piece of architecture gone to ruin. The palace is a predominant feature of Limenaria and looks stunning from the town, especially lit up spectacularly at night! You aren't supposed to enter, but can if you're careful. It's very interesting and atmospheric. Would be amazing to see new life injected into it.
