About
From the outside it may look like a grim feudal castle. It is actually a comfortable modern house instead, built between 1901 and 1903 by Baron Charles-Maurice Gamba for the sake of the young bride, the Countess Angélique Passerin d'Entrèves. As it recently turned into the Modern and Contemporary Art Museum, this castle hosts in its halls more than 150 works of the twentieth century masters, the best painting, sculpture and graphics collection the Aosta Valley Autonomous Region ever gathered since 1948. Some majestic monumental trees, including a redwood measuring more than 36 meters of height, form a wide large park around the building, designed by the Turinese landscape architect Giuseppe Roda.

Castle concert by Davide Dugros
Aug 2019
Visited the castle while attending a concert as part of the Chateaux en Musique initiative. The concert was held on the sprawling lawn, in the extensive parkland. Davide Dugros and his band created a very lively atmosphere and involved the audience, helped by the stunning backdrop. After the concert, wine tasting and a guided tour of the castle were offered. The castle now serves as an art gallery, and the works are organised by style, starting from the Realists up to more modern forms of art. A very able guide explained the evolution of different styles through vivid examples housed in the castle's collection.
