The gardens and the park is a lovely place to spend a sunny Sunday. There are extensive grounds and a lake. Do not miss the small waterfall. It is a pity the footpath does not extend to a full circular walk around the lake. The house is impressive but only a small part of it is understandably open to the... More

We found this house very expensive for what is on view limited number of rooms on display and hardly any garden on view .it does cater extensively for children and presumably that is why it costs 12.50. Very disappointing

£74 for 2 adults and 2 children for house and gardens as over 12 is regarded as an adult! Most of the house isn't even open! We did it in 15mins. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed you.

On arrival we were taken to the formal dining area. Personally i prefer the relaxed libary area so wouldn't have enjoyed the dining area. We chose to sit outside for afternoon tea as it was a gorgeous day. The afternoon tea itself was faultless! We had a good selection of everything. The drain was a bit smelly outside in the... More

Came here for the afternoon not expecting it to be such a welcoming place. The house actually has a really homely feel to it. Interesting history and an excellent walk around the Capability Brown designed estate.

Bowood is a super place but as a grandmother visiting with 4 grandchildren aged 7, 8, and 9 and a 20 month year old I found it absolutely exhausting. Lots to do for the older children but nothing to do for a very active toddler who wanted to go on every thing his older brother was going on. The only... More

Having just got a season ticket I decided to take a walk around the lake, but decided to look round the house & gift shop. Very helpful in the shop & enjoyed the house, able to wander around in our own time. Really loved the grounds & lake, plenty of benches for a little rest & take in the scenery,... More

We had a wonderful afternoon at Bowood on Saturday. We visited with friends who live close by and it is simply stunning. The house and gardens are beautiful and immaculately maintained. There is so much space for little ones to run around, play football and explore. A walk to the caves and waterfall was enjoyed by all. The highlight of... More

We frequent Bowood house and gardens quite often, it is close to home, offers something for everyone and brings back great childhood memories. Unfortunately it is only open during the warmer months (April - November) and offers nothing during winter time, so a season ticket should be weighed against your ability to visit often during fair weather. I used to... More
