My Irish Heritage gave my sister, spouse and I a life changing experience. We had little to no information about our Irish ancestry. Sean and his team did research on who our family members were, and took us on a tour of where they lived, where they were baptized, married, and buried. It sparked deep curiosity in me and I will be returning in the future ti learn more. Thank you to Ian for being a terrific your guide with immense knowledge of Irish history as well as current Irish culture. We are grateful for this experience!

This was my first trip to Ireland. Using My Ireland Family Heritage Tours was one of the first decisions we made. It was the perfect way to start off our 17 day tour. Working with Aisling about the logistics was easy, she was responsive to any questions and offered helpful advice. Ian was our tour guide and picked us up at Dublin Airport and took us to Trim Castle Hotel where we stayed for the first week. We took three tours with Ian, the last being the hometown Genealogy tour. Ian is knowledgeable and insightful. I learned so much from him about Irish history and culture. The family genealogy book that Sean prepared has bought me so much joy. I highly recommend staying at Trim Castle Hotel and booking your tours through My Ireland Family Heritage Tours.

Over the last few months of preparing for our trip, every single detail was meticulously attended, not only professionally, but helpfully, and in such a friendly manner, that I felt as if I knew Sean, Aisling and Ian before I even stepped off the plane.

The amount of work these wonderful people put into our personal history is mindboggling.

My mother was an avid amateur genealogist, and had worked for decades to bring to light the trail our family took, but our resources are limited.

Sean knows exactly where to look, and was able to fill in so many gaps that had eluded us for generations. Some of the information he found, unbeknownst even to him, actually solidified the findings we had amassed over the years. Ours was a family in coal mining – I only found on our tour that they had originated from a mining area, and their arrival on the Oh/(W)Va border coincided exactly with the decline in the mining industry in County Wicklow.

I would have been overjoyed simply with the knowledge of why they left when they did, about 12 years before the famine. Breaking through our brick wall of great grandparents even farther back on the family tree was a dream come true, but to be able to set foot on not only the area they lived, and find that the house is still there was overwhelming. Seeing the family church and cemetery where our ancestors and extended family still rest is a truly moving experience.

The care taken by this company in each and every aspect of the journey cannot be overstated. Only about 2 weeks prior to my trip, Sean contacted me to let me know that he had also stumbled across some of my husband’s family name in the process and included them as well in his research.

How often can anyone say that they not only got what they paid for, but more than they ever imagined? I can say that.

They were even kind enough to answer a few follow-up questions after my return home, as I was so stunned on my tour with Ian that I didn’t think ask at the time.

If you have the opportunity to make the trip to Ireland, contact My Ireland Family Heritage before you go.

If your family was there, Sean will go above and beyond to find them. Even without family, contact them anyway. Ian is a walking encyclopedia of history, and so fun to talk to. Aisling will make sure every “I” is dotted, and every “T” is crossed.

Thank you so much for the trip of a lifetime, and the opportunity to pass on everything we have discovered to future generations.

What an experience! I have always been fascinated by my family history. I’ve tried to research my Irish roots for years, but I’ve always run into roadblocks. I came across ‘My Ireland Family Heritage’ online a year before I planned to travel to Ireland with my husband. Aisling and Sean patiently helped me decide on the best package for us. We selected the ‘Genealogy Touring Gold Package’ (one day tour package). We enjoyed every minute of our day with Ian sifting through the townlands of my ancestors. We stood inside the remains of my 3x great grandparents’ home! We drove along a road that had several buildings once occupied by my family! We stood inside the church where my 2x great grandparents were married! We visited the cemeteries where my ancestors were buried. We walked in the footsteps of generations of my family members, and we are so grateful to ‘My Ireland Family Heritage’ for the trip of a lifetime!

Working with Aisling who is overseas and located in a time zone ahead of mine was surprisingly smooth. Communication was professional, efficient and responsive, making it easy to coordinate tours and discuss details. Thank you Aisling!

Chatting and emailing is a delightful experience. He not only answered my questions thoroughly but also displayed an impressive depth of knowledge which lends authenticity to this adventure. His patience in addressing my numerous inquiries has been commendable, making the research process enjoyable and informative. Not too mention some excellent and relevant reading materials recommendations to prepare for the trip. Thank you Seán!

Touring through ancient Ireland with Ian was a captivating journey back in time, filled with the rich history of Ireland. However, the highlight of the experience was the family history tour, where we explored churches, graveyards, and ancestral townlands. We even visited homesteads and happened upon a distant relative! Ian's personable nature and deep knowledge of Irish history added another layer of authenticity to the adventure. His quick thinking and resourcefulness while helping us locate our ancestors' graves made the tour not just informative but also emotionally profound. Thank you Ian!

With the family tour you get a wonderful book that can be handed down to future generations. I am going to my dad record his thoughts about our adventure so we can pass this along as well.

The pickups and dropoffs for the touring are great and made our trip in Ireland so much more relaxing.

My husband and I had the opportunity to visit Ireland for only one day this past August off a cruise. I reached out to My Ireland Heritage Tours to see if they could use any of the information I had previously developed to locate my family’s ancestral home. Bingo! Despite indicating they are able to pinpoint to within 10 yards, for my family they found the exact cottage still standing in a field. To say I was flabbergasted is an understatement. Seán showed me the records that he used to determine that location and there is no doubt. To stand where my great-grandmother lived was surreal. Even better was the ability to bring all this information and pictures back to my 88 year old mother so she could see her grandmother’s house. As if that wasn’t enough, Seán took us around a variety of churches and graveyards associated with my family AND as a bonus plan, he included some Irish history sites that I had indicated I was interested in. All in one day. He made sure we made it back to our ship on time. He even made sure my husband’s phone got quickly mailed to the US when we accidentally left it in his car. Additionally, Aisling was so easy and professional to work with on the front end of the trip planning. I can’t recommend this family business enough!!!!!

A few years ago, I took a full day genealogy tour with Sean and Ian which was a fantastic experience.  On short notice, I had an opportunity to come back to Ireland for a week this past August.  Due to my late developing schedule, I was unable to schedule a full day tour with My Ireland Heritage.  Instead I hired them to conduct basic genealogy research via their Snapshot product.  After conveying the family information I knew to Sean and team, my plan was to take whatever additional research they could find and to then drive to any identified locations.  Going with Snapshot was a very productive decision.  The research they provided identified exactly where in a specific townland within the village of Boherbue, Cork my Godsil / Sheehan ancestors lived in the early to mid-1800s.  The Snapshot research gave me general area background and family surname frequency in various record sources.  It also contained a combination of civil and parish records research information, including Griffith’s Valuation and Tithe Applotment Books information, which identified specific locations as well as other persons having the same surname living nearby.  That broad surname information will allow me to do additional research at a later date to try and establish even further extended family connections.  The Snapshot summary information also contained Eircodes, which are house or building specific GPS codes, associated with places my ancestors lived. I ultimately used those codes to drive to the identified locations.  Having those Eircodes makes locating sites much easier as navigation on Ireland’s older, local roads (think narrow with stone walls on either side) and the changing of physical locations over centuries can make site visits challenging.  After I received the research, Sean was extremely gracious in engaging me on a follow-up call regarding questions I had on the Snapshot information and he even reached out to a current local village resident on my behalf.  With the research and Eircodes, our self-drive to the village was very straightforward and gratifying.  In my case, I was looking for foundational genealogical research, specific ancestral location information, and post-research access to a knowledgeable team to help me on my search.  Snapshot certainly hit the mark for me.  I highly recommend My Ireland Heritage for any project.

My wife and I totally enjoyed our trip. It could not have gone better. While I had already done much of the research, there was little pieces of information they found that will help me fill in some details of my wife's family heritage.

The most important part was the visits to the many sites. While in the U.S. I looked places up on the map, but was not always sure I had the right place. Going with this company to many of those places gave me a much better understanding of where my wife's ancestors also lived.

It also helped me better understand some of the issues they faced and even some of their personal character. The most interesting was Simon Hadley (1640-1711). As I visited the places he lived and the events surrounding his life, I gained a greater appreciation for him. I think he was a person who stood by his sons and his wife. It appears that his wife was the devout Quaker, but he became a Quaker to support her. When his sons had conflicts with the Quaker Church (Society of Friends), he supported his sons. Really interesting person. My wife and I both think we would have liked him!

This is the second time my family and I have traveled to Ireland and we just can't go without including Sean, Ian and Aisling in our travels. They are incredibly professional, but also endearingly friendly and kind. Their historic knowledge and resulting discussions about how current culture has developed from that history is invaluable. They are more than "guides". They are also educators about Ireland's history, culture, geography etc. Most importantly to me and my family - they feel like extended members of our family now. We will be back - not just because they have instilled their love of Ireland in us, but because each time we travel and meet with them, they offer us more enticing info about the other areas of the country that we now HAVE to visit.

My sisters and I had a wonderful experience. I had hit dead-ends trying to trace my ancestors, but My Ireland Heritage was able to find them even with the limited information I passed along. The finished bound and dedicated book is beautiful and very detailed with our family’s information, and the included maps and codes were helpful. It was evident that an incredible amount of research went into finding our family’s records. Seán met us at our Dublin hotel to go over the findings before we left on our self-guided tour. We had so much fun driving on the country roads to find the lands that our ancestors lived on. It was profound to see the views they saw and imagine how they lived. Seán followed up via call and emails to see how we were faring. I’m very satisfied with the overall experience.
