Simon is an excellent guide who kept me fascinated for 2+ hours with these amazing stories that are both of historical significance yet compelling in their own right. Utterly transportive and a beautiful place off without the usual tourist trappings.

Put aside 2 hours, book your tickets, and get ready to travel back into the mists of the Celtic world in this tour that leads to the very centre of Ireland. Justin's tour conjured the ancient mysteries of the ancestors who lived here, but anchored the myths with new archaeological discoveries that reveal the complex and sophisticated peoples who inhabited the landscape, and who left their signatures in stone and fire, as the Bealtaine Festival of Fire re-imagines every year. One of a handful of ancient royal sites in Ireland, its prominent position allowed us to see across neighbouring counties and to re-imagine the ancient assemblies that gathered to feast and debate and mark the passing of the seasons.

Ruth, our guide. She was full of so much information, and she never sounded scripted. the two hour tour was nearly three, and felt like one!

Such a lovely way and place to spend an afternoon! Uisneach is magical. Stepped in history and mythology. Ruth, our tour guide, was a fountain of knowledge of every era of history on the land. I look forward to returning at the Bealtaine festival!!!!

This was a fantastic tour and a wonderful way to start our Ireland holiday. Our tour was led by Justin, who was very knowledgeable about Neolithic history, the terrain and shared plenty of stories about Irish culture. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning more about the region. My only regret is missing the cup of tea at the end as we had to rush out, so make sure to plan for that!

I was worried that visiting the Hill of Uisneach would consist of a walk up a hill with a few stones and a bunch of friendly hippies. Couldn't be more mistaken!!

We showed up at the opening time of 1pm, turns out it was the only time to be there as you can only visit by prebooked (online at uisneach.ie) space on the guided tour of the day.

And what a guided tour!!

Nearly 3 hours of our small group walking around an amazing ancient and sacred landscape that is still a working farm. Ruined passage tombs, hill summits, holy Wells, barrows and the foundations of ancient Royal palaces and ring forts, you are walked around the site with a guide who is an unparalleled font of all knowledge to do with the site, the mythology, archaeology and how it fits historically within the landscape and the rest of the country. We had Ruth. She was amazing! She knew the history and culture of every lump and bump on the route and every lump and bump on the horizon too!

Well worth a visit even if you are not into the more mystical/religious side of things.

Still feeling slightly stunned by it all a couple of hours later!!
