Impressive piece of well preserved history. It's huge and very immersive. Visited on a hot summer day and the caves and tunnels provided a nice cool relief. I highly recommend to grab an audio guide or hire a guide because unfortunately there are no explanations...More

Wonderful experience both in the travels to Vardzia and the tour of the caves themselves. Amazing the condition of these 800+ year old caves, the religious paintings and the tunnel network. I could not have imagined the engineering skills and the ingenuity of the original...More

The cave monastery is an amazing place to visit that has sadly suffered the hand of safety. They have put all kinds of fencing and rails which completely disstroys the beauty and uniqueness of the site. Even worse, they used metal rails, so they get...More

The cave town of Vardzia is fascinating, different from other things I've seen and worth a visit. Especially the church rooms and the caves leading from one to another were exciting. I wish we had rented an audio guide or brought some other information with...More

Vardzia is a must-see place in Georgia! We have seen a number of rock dwellings around the Caucuses, many in very good condition but Vardzia looks very well kept and is amazing to see in person. Lots of stairs so be prepared for that and...More

The cave City is a must on your travels, walking in the past history , and religion dating way back..You can walk through the area which has interconnecting caves. Must wear sturdy shoes as some places have loose stones .

Quite a climb to the top but the complex is beautiful. Don't miss the church with its lovely fresco's and the tunnels and steps up to the place above the church. When you're done, you can also have a nice meal and beer at the...More

it's pretty far from tbilisi, if you don't want to travel long distance it's not for you, but if you do, you will be surprised by the ancient city in cave, there are more than 300 rooms in vardzia.

This is on a mountainside cliff. If you keep them in a stroller you can make the first area. If you take them in your arms or babypak, you may take them anywhere on the area. There are steep drops and some stairs to... More

I agree: it is not safe. But as long as you keep your kid tight at all times, I see no reason why you shouldn't visit the place and enjoyed it yourself. Your kid may not get a thing of Vardzia, but you deserve to go there... More
