Murano is world famous for its hand made glass factories ...
It's fantastic for glassware and famous for its chandeliers ...
But don't be temped by the first shops you see when you get off the boat ! Oh no .. The more you venture into the island the more the prices drop quite dramatically ....
I saw a piece in the first shop nearest to the boat stop which was 2500 euros ....
Quite impressive ..
The lady even offered me a discount of 1000 euros !! However I left it and ventured further ...
Later in a smaller shop I saw the same piece , exactly the same for 750 euros !!! No kidding !! And I'm sure I could have got a discount on that as well !!!
So be warned !! Don't buy the first thing you see !! You will definitely find it cheaper the further away from the boat stop you are ...
And it's nice to walk around the smaller streets ..
I found a wonderful boutique hotel and beautiful restaurant completely by surprise !!
Happy shopping !!
Would I go back ?
Yes but with a bigger suitcase !!

Glass Blowing and well price glass items
Jun 2014 • Couples
By chance, we decided to visit the glass blowing furnace of Antica Murano on Murano island and we were greatly impressed. Glass objects are blown or made in your presence so you can see the skill and artistry required to make even simple objects. We ended up buying some small items to give away as presents once we get home but there is a range of items for sale, all of them competitively priced. They were very well packaged without additional charge.
The visit to the facility is free, although a small donation is always welcome.
