What a good surprise! Very interesting visit, all kids and adults in our group loved it. Very impressive views. And our guide, Adel, was just the best guide I ever had. Passionate with excellent humor, you can tell he loves his job. He obviously makes the visit funny to make his job more fun, but this is for the benefit... More

Well worth seeing these spectacular mines, and complete the story of how this region's ochres were extracted and used. Wrap up warm, as it's only 10°c inside, but it's easy walking inside, and the ceilings are very high so no claustrophobia. The guide is very cheery and chats with the group. Recommended, especially if you're also visiting Roussillon or Rustrel.

I'm used to explore caves in my area, so when I went on vacation in Apt I couldn't not visit the mines. I definitely don't regret it! The visit lasted over an hour, the guide was very nice and the explanations were thorough. The work done in these mines over the centuries is beautiful and the mines are majestic. The... More

Thank you very much for your comments. The shows and concerts at night in front of the cliff are really magical indeed. It is true that we havn't communicated at all concerning the Foreign Legion Concert and that it because it is always full house ! More

When we entered the cathedral-like structure, we were whisked away into a world of outstanding achievement and spectacular beauty. The guide took us down numerous chambers, exhibiting the vaulted ceilings, variants of coloured ore from bright mustard yellow to deep rose pink and a wealth of history. Beware -it's a constant 10^c and a sweater or coat is essential. After... More

Had a great visit here during our stay in Provence. The mines are over 40km in length (you don't walk all of it) and give a great view into the mining at that time. The guide was very good and gave a detailed description of the mines, the process and many other points, pertinent to the visit and the area.... More

A tribute to The Rolling Stones, Joe Cocker a la Francaise. A traditional Provence presentation, a French Foreign Legion concert. The choice of entertainment at the mines goes on. 30klms of passages and tunnels if you want to visit during the day, with guides that are more entertaining sometimes than TV performers. I defy you to be disappointed, but beware,... More

The mines are just beautifull. The guide was friendly and switched in english to translate when she could. Plus if your not able to understand french you ll have an Ipad that helps during rhe tour. Gladly recommend it for a trip in familly with young children or with friends. Dont forget to take a pullover with. It s cold... More

Interesting site with mysterious atmosphere. Attention: even in summer it's quite cold. They have multilingual service, but if there are not many visitors you get an tablet with info and join a French tour. That's quite ok. Price is ok for about 30 min of guided tour . But, no photos inside the pits are allowed. (Safety issues)

I went there with a mixed group of English and French speakers and it was amazing! The guide was able to explain everything twice, in both languages, so we all felt very engaged and really understood what was going on in there in the past. It is a beautiful place that is intrinsically connected with the history of the region.... More

This is something really unique. Inside the cliff where ocher was mined is dark and maze like. No pictures allowed, they are afraid of losing someone distracted taking photos. My only complaint is that the tour was in French. The guide could answer questions in English, but I couldn't slow down the tour by asking too many. They do give... More
