Interesting reliefs in a lovely setting
Sep 2019
The setting is lovely with the large pool in front of the 2 grottoes and the separate relief panel of Ardashir II. The reliefs in the large grotto depicting the coronation of Khosroe II have sadly suffered from water ingress, but the hunting scene on the right wall is in excellent condition. The upper panel on the left hand side still show some original paint. The relief in the smaller grotto has also suffered from erosion, and shows Shapur II with his son, Shapur III, who added a Pahlavi inscription to the relief later, or his brother, Ardashir II. Finally, there is a 3rd relief to the right of the small grotto depicting the coronation of Ardashir III. The signage is very good.

Amazing Sculpture and so beautiful combination of mountain and lake
Jul 2019
One of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Iran is the Achaemenid period. The beauty of the monument itself, the landscape and the beautiful lake is a unique combination.

An absolute MUST ...
Aug 2019
Taq-e Bostan grottoes are an absolute must. The carvings depicting the equestrian statue of Khosrow II in Parthian armour, Shapur II and his grandfather Shapur II, as well as the low relief of the investiture of Ardashir II with Ahura Mazda and Mithra, together with the Rubensesque victory angels and the stylised tree of life are worth being looked at. The whole presumed Sassanid Royal hunting park is very beautiful with the surrounding pool and leisure areas. I suggest you visit it during daytime and in the evening as well.

You can find many attractions belongs to Sassanian Empire over there. The fantastic carvings and reliefs, a beautiful pond with many springs, many tall trees, and high rocks altogether make the complex very attractive.
The best time for visiting is early mornings or late evenings.

A place to chill
Aug 2019 • Friends
This historical site dates back to Sasanid times and its a piece of art and a historical document at the same time. I suggest you do a brief research before going there so you can fully enjoy its beauty.
There's a beautiful lake beside the relief and you can chill there and enjoy the peace there.
By the way if you want to enjoy your tour there try to get there early in the morning or in the evening. Summer and spring are the best times for a trip there.

Historical place with a beautiful nature, three historical vaults that they carved an image of Iranian kings. Pay attention! Because of direct sunlight this place is not suitable for children under 3, 4 years old
