We took an early morning ferry across to Sydney (Victoria). The ship is very well outfitted, with gift shops, snack bars, restaurants, and ample seating. The Parks Canada nature talk was excellent and recommended (Kevin). Parking at the terminal was $15 for the day. It...More

Travelled with two dogs so spent our time on the car deck but it was awesome! Sunny and warm, Hardly any wind! We were very lucky that we got right on. There were a couple more ferries out of Horseshoe Bay every day so we...More

We had occasion to visit Vancouver Island BC, and used two of the BC Ferries. Leaving the mainland, traveling to the island, we took the Tsawwassen/Duke Point Ferry. We had an advance reservation so we just pulled up, got in lane, and waited. Loading was...More

I'm writing this review as more of a tip. If you're a food passenger (no car) with luggage, don't check-in your luggage. Just carry it on board and use the lift to get you to the passenger deck. We checked in our luggage when we...More

Reservations online highly recommended. This avoids the uncertainty especially on long weekends. Ferries are packed tight.... lots of areas to sit and relax to enjoy the passing views. Great ferry trip to/from Nanaimo - Duke Point. Love doing the crossing at least once a year.

BC Ferries are easy to work with. We made our reservations online. (I think you can change, if needed for a small fee) We were at the terminal about an hour before our crossing. Check in was easy, gave us a lane and we were...More

BC Ferries are very expensive, unreliable a good portion of the time, visitors are liable to be unaware they need a reservation (extra $$) or be prepared to wait sometimes one, two or more sailings depending on day and time. Vancouver Island may be lovely,...More

See the other answer. You drive to the Vancouver side of Highway 17 to the end in Tsawwassen. Just follow the signage to the appropriate toll gate.
