Small museum, but the Germanicus bronze makes it worth the effort...
Jan 2020
Not a huge museum, but, if it's open, well worth the effort to see the bronze sculpture of Germanicus...it is incredible. The rest of the museum is worth a look also, but the Germanicus is surely the highlight.

This ticket I think, allows entrance also to other historic sites in Amelia, especially the Roman Cisterns which are well worth investigating.

Don't miss these if you are in the area...

The main attraction is stunning
Sep 2019
This museum has many Roman artefacts and a lot of stone retrieved from the Roman town that became modern Amelia but the principal exhibit is a life size bronze statue of Germanicus. This lay buried (and therefore squashed) until 1963 but sufficiently intact to allow reconstrucion of virtually the whole thing. Those pieces that won't fit are displayed separately. How it has escaped being hauled off to at least a provinvial if not national museum seems incredible - it really has to be seen to be believed. A short film (available in English) explains the full history, both of the man and the statue. We were in the museum for well over an hour and saw no other visitors - early September so outside school holidays but this does deserve to be better known.

This museum was charming the best part was the highly informative movie about the bronze statue of Germanico Augustus. Our children 5,8 were fully enthralled.

Lovely wedding in the museum
Jun 2016 • Family
We were married here which may seem a bit odd at first, but was quite wonderful. The museum itself has much more to see than I originally anticipated although it is not large.
Amelia has a lot of history. I would recommend it highly.

We really enjoyed our visit to this super little museum. Everything was explained and marked out really well to make the whole Etruscan and Roman history very interesting. Highly recommend a visit to this museum and to view the wonderful bronze statue of Germanico.
