A Hunting Lodge and Zoo
Sep 2019
This little gem is just 2km-drive from Hlobuka Castle and was a Hunting Lodge and belonged to the Schwarzenberg family.
No guided tours, visitors can explore the castle at their own space.
There’s an English booklet at the Reception for CZK30 with good description of the history of the lodge and exhibitions about the former fishing community and the foundation of the Zoo.
With the entry fee you can visit the Zoo too, wild animals, different species of birds, green house.
When got exhausted, at the end of the Zoo the tired visitor can have a good lunch (menu in English)at the restaurant for good price, polite staff, quick service.Lovely view of the lake.
Don’t miss it when you visit Hlobuka Castle!
Ohrada 17, 373 41 Hlobuka nad Vltavou.

Fishing and forestry history insight
Oct 2018 • Couples
A very nice deep insight to fishing. 70 000 artificial fish lakes to produce carp, pike, perch, pike-perch, tench, european eel and the biggest - cat-fish. Czech people consume for X-mas Eve 4 000 000 pcs of carp. Forestry is amazing, too. Deer, fallow deer, wild boar, roebuck and doe, mofflon and other game are home in czech forests together with pheasants, wild ducks, partridge, hare. There are as well some rare species there. We really enjoyed it.

this review for the national museum is a fake!!! I have hinted the whole city and the internet in English, German and Czech (my wife is Czech) and they is no such museum in Hluboka!!! The pictures shown here are from the castle gardens and the entry to the castle as such.

Hluboka Castle is now a Museum and well worth a visit
Jul 2016 • Friends
We did the guided tour of this Castle Museum and found it incredibly fascinating. The rooms were all furnished with original furniture, furnishings and artworks making it a quality experience from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Lovely Restored Hunting Lodge
Oct 2016 • Couples
We were a group of 10 and happened upon this by accident. A local from Prague recommended it. We loved our tour. It's not often you find a castle like this with so much of its original furnishings. Each room is more amazing than the next.

One of the highlights of the region
Sep 2016 • Couples
While waiting for our tour (unfortunately not in English, as is the usual custom in Czech Republic, with the exception of the castle at CK), we had a nice picnic lunch in the garden. Castle is beautiful, if not quite as ancient as the others. Nice interiors, library, and collection of weaponry. Pleasant grounds to stroll in and to be photographed, especially if you are a bride (there were several!). Worth combining with other attractions in the region (see my reviews).

Beautiful castle
Jul 2016 • Family
A really stunning castle, it has so beautiful exterior, made to resemble one in Windsor. Beautifully restored and it has quite well maintained gardens. It is free to visit the courtyard and the gardens, and you pay a fee for the inside. Inside is not very interesting since it is hard to get tours in English, but they do provide some special leaflets with information for English speakers. Not allowed to take photos inside. There are some pretty stunning rooms inside, but overall I don't think it's worth the price. However it is beautiful outside! A well worth daytrip.

Fairy tale castle
Jul 2016 • Family
Had been here 21 years ago, and now back with the whole family. Hluboka Castle definitely is one of the most attractive looking castles that gives you a fairy tale feel. Many cartoons must have copied architectural design ideas from this beautiful and classic castle. The views from the tower was also magnificent.

Worth a visit even though it took quite some time by bus starting from Ceske Budejovice. Bus to the castle can be taken from the top floor (or roof) of the main CB bus terminal building, the same place that other long distance buses depart CB. Beware that for the return bus trip, some buses stop at the same bus station that we alighted for the castle while others stop at the bus station on the opposite side of the street. We did not take a taxi, as the insane taxi driver requested for an outrageous fee that was raised even higher when we asked for a reduction.

A little bit above average
Jul 2016 • Couples
I thougt i´d visit the castle but the museum occupies jost one floor. They don´t have an english guide, you receive a book that you can read during the visit. That´s poor actually :(
The best part is the Museum it´s self. A lot of wood in rooms, paintings that are quite bige and you can see a part of them from close. It takes an hour to see all of that, and to some people(my grilfriend) that ´s a little bit boring.
To concede i would say that this museum it´s a thing to do in Hluboka because it´s representative for Bohemia.

Fairy tale
May 2016 • Family
Beautiful and romantic castle, as in the fairy tales from our childhood. Impressive and magnificent outside, inside it's modest, not pretentious, amiable and dressed in wood.
