Visited the Friday after autumn half time and despite all the signs saying "open" and a "Venue for all seasons" it was closed when we arrived. Very disappointed as all reviews advised it was a great place to visit. Shame

I'm terribly sorry to hear about your wasted trip. Unfortunately the brown tourist signs are owned by the local council and we aren't allowed to change them, we try to let visitors know our opening/closing dates by putting it on our website and on as many search engines as we can access but this is always an issue. We have... More

Whilst on holiday in Devon we saw the sign for Canonteign Falls and thought we would take a look. So pleased we did, it's a really nice place to visit, beautiful woodlands, lake and water falls. To get to the top of the waterfall it is a very steep, zig zag climb, (about 90 steps) but well worth the effort.... More

Beautiful area, edge of Dartmoor. The grounds are well kept with pathways winding through woodland, round lakes & up to a spectacular viewpoint & waterfall. You need to be sure footed with walking boots. Family members who don't want to climb steps can sit & admire the grounds & view from the cafe. Ample parking. We ate a couple of... More

We did the climb up the old steps to the top of the waterfall and enjoyed all of the lakes. Wonderful place to visit

Lovely walk around this Victorian folly - it's definitely not just 90 steps! As long as you are reasonably healthy though it's not an issue and the view is worth it even today when the weather was a little grey. Didn't sample the tea shop - but the shop was cute as were the chaps running their motor controlled boats... More

Really worth a visit. Lovely views steep walk not advisable for those who find walking or steep Terran difficult. I can't Rember the price so must have been reasonable. Lady in the cafe was a bit sour faced but service and scone tea was fine

Visited this attraction and did the walk up the 90 steps to the top of the falls. There are 90 main steps but probably as many again spread over the walk. About 1hr to do the circular walk. Not to difficult even for people with minor walking problems. Be advised by staff as to suitability. No big drops to frighten... More

Very happy with my day out here and I've already recommended it to family and friends. Lots to do with beautiful views and scenery - you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. The walk to the waterfall is quite challenging, I wouldn't say you need to be in peak physical condition but it's definitely worth considering. I guess... More

we stopped off on our way home with my 10 year old nephew to break up our long journey. we had a lovely walk up through the woods, met a mole on his travels, found some mystical fairy houses and we were so quiet we managed to see the fairies flying through the trees. The falls are magnificent and it... More

Found this on google search. Great place to visit. Highly recommend a good pair of outdoor shoes as the walk up to the falls follows the old Victorian pathway - rocks and tree trunks. But once at the top the view is breath taking. This would also be a good place for the kids as there are lots of things... More
