Worth a visit
Aug 2020 • Friends
Pretty impressive ship with interesting history. The audio tour was fun but took too long per point so we disregarded it and just went discovering the ship solo. Cool video presentations and some games for kids. 14 euros is on the edge of being too expensive but assumingly it goes to restoring and maintaining the ship so i would recommend.

Worth to visit
Jul 2020
The Museumship Pommern is part of the Åland Maritime Museum and it is worth to visit.
I took the audio guide tour and it was really nice to hear the stories of the old sailors. The ship was impressive and it was fun to think living on the ship while it sailed around the world. I'm not sure would I have wanted to be onboard then but...
The ship is well kept and nice to see the living quarters, kitchen, etc.

Authentic museum experience
Jul 2020
Here you can visit the only four-masted merchant sailing ship in the world which is still in its original state.

Pommern was built in 1903. It has carried timber from Scandinavia, saltpeter from Chile, and grain from Australia. Her last commercial voyage was done in 1939 and since 1952 Pommern has been a museum ship.

The exhibition 'Pommern – 100 days under sail' makes the ship come alive with the crew’s own stories. You will experience what the sailor's life has been.

Loved this ship
Jun 2019
Touring the Pommern was so much fun with the headphones narrated by the ship's rat, Ruby. I absolutely loved climbing around all the rooms in the ship and seeing where different sailors got to sleep (LOVE the bunks!). The officer's quarters were so ornately decorated, and the captain's cabin has a little tube running from the deck straight to his bed so he can speak with whomever is on deck. Down in the vast hold you can experience a storm at sea. Excellent exhibits.

Spectacular Sailing Ship
Jul 2019
Renovated and kept beautifully, this sailing ship provides great insight into vessels of the day. From the kitchen to the captain's quarters to the overall working of sailing ships, this is a great experience. Amazingly, most of the ship is handicapped accessible. Hats off to the museum for providing such a great and accessible experience.

The renewed museum is a real success! One hour is just enough to spend here as there is lots to see and hear here. Great audio guide helps to understand it all.

First of all, this is a real ocean ship in a good condition. The audioguide tells a story of a trip by the crew. The downstairs show the cargo space and explains soem of works in the vessel.

A great experience! An interesting new feature is the audio radio theatre where you can listen to the daily life of an 100 days trip on the sea to Australia to pick up grain. Absolutely worth seeing!
