Amazing

Beautiful place, the paths could be improved a little, but it is certainly worth putting a backpack on your shoulders and walking to the sea, wonderful. Always remember to leave clean, there are many bins also for separate waste

A nice seaside contrast
Oct 2019
We based ourselves in Nardo for a few days, and toured both the western seaside, and the eastern seaside of lower Puglia. Porto Selvaggio and the surrounding western seaside villages were a nice contrast to the more populated western side. there were very few people around in early October, but we can imagine how busy it must get in the summertime, with many Italians coming form the north to these beach-side villages.

The quintessential beauty of the rocky cove.
May 2019 • Couples
If you are this deep in the south, you already are immersed in the magnificent coastline and communities that shape and dot the landscape. When i say deep, i mean on the Salento Peninsula, the heel of the Italian boot, where this shelving limestone cove is dominated by a 16th-Century watchtower at the end of Puglia’s finest beaches. Its name means “ wild harbour”, so while the femme and i were doing excursions around the feral rock-strewn bay, serenaded by the rustling wind in the umbrella pines. We paused frequently for a plung into the cold water and to chew on delectable we brought with us for a bite. The bay’s rocky platforms are perfect to launch yourself into the briny.

What’s this?
Sep 2018 • Couples
Arrived at the area via torre del alto. Small parking, about 10-15 minutes walk through pine forest. The bay is very disappointing, crowded, rocky, loud music playing from the two sandwich stands. Walked further over the rocks but found the scenery bit disappointing. Don’t understand the high appreciation for this place.

A beach in the middle of a pine forest
Jul 2018 • Friends
The Natural Reserve of Porto Selvaggio adds a clear green sea, the shade of the pine forest and a unique naturesa, all in one place. After a 20-minute walk in the middle of a pine forest, you come to a coastline cut by beautiful clear sea beaches. Very crowded in summer, parking nearby is not easy to find. Take your own infrastructure: chairs, towels, food, drinks, footwear suitable for walking on rocks and swimming in a sea of rocky bottom. But it's worth!!

Loved it

Beautiful water. We parked on the road - didn’t get a fine but take your own chances ;-) we brought food but there were kiosks there at reasonable prices. Maybe cause it was July. Brought an umbrella but then stayed in the pines. Recommend it.

Excellent swimming with plenty of forest shade
Aug 2017 • Couples
The approach from the road may take some time as the walk through the forest is quite long. However take your lunch and you will be rewarded with a super swimming bay ( with grotte) and some shade for your lunch.

Great day

Wonderful bay with amazing views. You can sit on the rocks, on the beach or in the woods. There are tables and picnic areas. Fantastic place and wonderful water.
To reach the place you have to park your car about 1km away but you will not be disappointed.

A little place of beauty to walk to.
Apr 2017 • Couples
This area can be best accessed in two ways. Either go to Santa Caterina and turn right along the main road until you see the fort on the hill. Walk up the steps/ path through the forest until you get to the top. You can't miss the castle. Walk along a little until you see paths down to the beach. Just follow people or there are many paths and as long as you go down you will get there. The other way is to drive (there is a bus stop and it is walkable from Nardo if you know the way and are fit) Park along the road at the Villa Tafuri. This is the pale orange villa and opposite is the entrance to the national park. It is only just under a mile to walk down to the sea. Go along the main path, turn left if you want a gentler walk or go straight down the track which has lots of rough stones, pebbles. You will need walking trainers. We are in our 60s and still managed it fine. The beach is magical and very popular with locals. if you walk to the right it will be quieter. The tracks go through the scrubland and in spring the flowers are amazing. Take water and cover up if hot. There is a delightful breeze which tends to mask the sun. We walked in April and came back rather burnt! Enjoy the sea and the whole ambience of the place.

Sauvage and beautiful, bring good hard sole sandals
Sep 2016 • Friends
Ah the beauty of Salento. Loved it. Be prepared with good sandals or waking shoes. Flip flops will be rather dangerous and you don't want anything to spoil the fun.
