This is an incredible architectural feat - we traveled over the bridge in a canal boat and then went back to bike on it.

Good walk

Good walk unless you suffer from vertigo. Certainly a different experience following a canal over a bridge over the Loire.

Again a fun nice short stop thing. At the outskirts of Briare an viaduct for boats! Made in the Good old sturdy way of then.. You could sit a one of the small restaurants on the terrace to take a look at the boats crossing the Loire and sip of some wine or other refreshment. With kids it is just... More

Lovely town with plenty of interesting things to see. Good public swimming pool. Would definitely return as we only had 24hrs in all to explore before taking our locaboat.

This is the only bridge ever build for boats! The boats are on the bridge not the folks. It is beautiful even during a rainy day.

Beautiful place to visit day or night. Sunrise and sunset with great photos of the Loire River. Night time is amazing when it's lit up!

Actually we cycled across the Aquaduct but as many people walk it and at 662 metres long it's Europe's longest Pont canal or canal bridge but in actual fact it's an aquaduct that carries the Briare canal over the river Loire and set in delightful countryside so you can walk or cycle for as far as you like. It was... More

One of the engineering marvels of the world. Try to explain to friends that a canal runs across the Loire, more than 30 metres above the actual river. And to be built in the 1890's is even more astounding. This rivetted structure was obviously built in pieces and shipped to the canal. We have now visited this site on a... More
