Unfortunately parts of the castle were being renovated but what you could see was ok. The rooms are mostly empty but the views of Castlebay from the top are good even in the rain.

First thing we saw on sailing in.....had a lovely visit crossing by wee rowing boat as it is in the bay. If I livedin a castle....this would be the one.

Worth a visit to this castle in the harbour surrounded by water. Ferry man goes every half hour in summer months. Only takes a 15 mins to explore. Inside small cottages around a courtyard. Some being renovated. Discrete location of privy off hall made me...More

Wherever you are in Castlebay, the Castle grabs you. It shimmers above the water just begging to be explored. It's open every day visited by a small boat trip which is included in the price. The boat runs every half hour with a break for...More

Well worth the visit. We came across on the boat trip just before they break for lunch and the time we had was sufficient. It is a great place to wander around and imagine what it would have been like to live there. Good shop...More

The boat ride is great fun - short but fun! The best part is that on the return, the driver takes you around the back of the castle so you can see it from all sides. To be honest there wasn't much to see at...More

Definitely worth a visit. Only £6 for a return trip and entry I to the castle. You pay at the castle and concession fees available too. Only very small and you can catch the next boat back or stay a little longer and take photos....More

Sorry for delay, is it Kisimul Castle on Barra you are enquiring about?, if so, yes there is a small charge, I think about £4 per adult, it is very small but steeped in history and well worth a visit x
