Furano is the northernmost Prince Snow Resorts. The ski resort consists of 2 zones, Furano and Kitanomine, which have 23 trails in total. You can reach the summit directly by a 101 passenger Furano Ropeway and see a great view of the Daisetsu Mountain Range. There are 2 ski-in ski-out Prince Hotels at the bottom of each area, in which you can enjoy après. Hot springs near the ski area and sightseeing in Furano town are also fun experiences.

After Niseko, Furano shows as a bit of a poor cousin. Not the glitz here. Some of the lifts are quite old. But climb up to the peak from top of lift and drop into the bowls below the cornices, and you are in a...More

We’ve been coming to Furano for 6 years now and have never been disappointed. The resort is a two hour bus ride from either Sapporo or Asahikawa, so it’s pretty accessible. There are plenty of hotels and lodges available if you book early - but...More

This is the first Hokkaido ski resort that I have been too (previously been to Niigata and Nagano resorts). The temps are a bit more chilly but there was decent powder everywhere. No wait time for most of the lifts except for first thing (8:30...More

We did not stay here, but rather, we came here to have a go at the ski lessons provided. It was our first time skiing, so we signed up for the beginner’s package that comes with equipment rental. Our instructor was Nao-san, who is an...More

Much better, less crowds and far cheaper than Niseko. The town isn't even totally Australianised as yet. Here you will see Japanese skiing, something that's difficult to do at Hirafu. The lift passes are cheap compared to Niseko.

Lots of runs here to keep us busy - big wide groomers and magical pathways through the trees. Gorgeous views and mountains of snow during our visit. Not too busy and no queues at the lifts ever. The kids ski free deal is a boon...More

Great facilities with ropeway, gondola, quad and double chairs. Cafes, bakeries and restaurants to choose from for lunch. No big queues for the lifts. And powder skiing every day.

If you’re looking for somewhere a little quieter than Niseko and less flooded with fellow Aussies :-) then consider Furano. Great skiing. Good prices.

Hi, in general the ski areas in Japan do not have an European like village for sore ski. Furano city itself is quiet large and has many good restaurants and cafes. So it depends where you stay. I stayed at New Furano... More
