Standing out from opposite the Oyster Inn Hotel is a small car park where you can pull up and read an information board about the falls. Not really waterfalls as such, more like scary rapids that run straight down the river! There were people canoeing...More

Previous reviewers have already mentioned this, but in the interests of clarity - and possible false expectations - it is worth stressing that the Falls of Lora are not waterfalls. It is an area of turbulent water that flows and eddies under the Connel Bridge...More

As you cross the Connel Bridge you notice the very turbulent waters below and this is the Falls of Lora. This is not a falls where the water cascades downward but swirling eddies over the rocks below.

This is not a must see, but nevertheless fascinating effect caused by the tidal race between two lochs which at especially high tide times can be spectacular. However, of equal interest is the cantilever bridge built originally for the railway, but later converted to a...More

Having read the reviews we stopped just briefly to watch the tidal surge. I don’t think we were at the peak time but we still saw lots of eddies. Also nice to watch the water birds. We saw a pair of herons. We parked in...More

Looking at the falls it makes you want to try your hand at manouvering a canoe through the rapids. But then you think no, maybe not!! Loveley views of the surrounding 'hills' and the bridge is pretty good to look at to.

Great to stop off and have a look at the unusually flow of the water and iconic bridge.Sadly no wildlife to see on my visit but very peaceful to sit and while away half an hour and take some pictures.

Believe it or not this one of the best moments of my trip to Oban. The Connel bridge is a short drive away from Oban and I would definitely return to spend longer than I did. We were headed out to Port Appin as we...More

Watching the current change direction with the tides and seeing the many species of birds who come to feed here is fascinating. Kayakers will like the challenge of working around the rapids.

When the tide is at the correct level, these falls are awesome. I believe they are the highest sea water falls in Scotland.
