This place is absolutely wonderful! Make sure you wear very comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella or rain jacket. It rained, sunshined, rained again and then sunshined again during the five hours we spent there. We took the long walks which come out to about...More

We arrived in inclement weather, but had lunch first before touring the Abbey and the Gardens. It was too rainy and cold to enjoy the gardens plus there was work going on which also impeded the tour. The abbey house was interesting and the history...More

This is a magnificent mansion built by Mitchell Henry in the 1800's and now is home to Benedictine nuns. The mansion overlooking a small lake is grand. There is also an old gothic style chapel and a beautiful walled garden. They have a nice gift...More

We sort of "stumbled into" Kylemore Abbey and were glad we did. We spent half a day visiting and walking around. It was a beautiful walk as the Abbey, the "Cathedral in Miniature" and the Walled Gardens were all magnificent. It was easy to imagine...More

Would I travel to Connemara to see this site, no. But if I was in Connemara, would I visit this site, every time. The walled garden is a great example of a formal/kitchen garden. It takes about 2 hours to see the entire site.

This abbey is in a stunning location with views over a lake and set in lovely gardens. There is a church in the grounds which is one of the prettiest churches one could find. Simple but majestic and built as a memorial. The abbey itself,...More

Like most tourist traps in Ireland, it costs money to get close. The house itself was interesting, but only 3 rooms were really accessible. The church was the highlight, and it's tiny (by design). We weren't able to get to the gardens because it was...More

The abbey gorgeous to look at from the outside, but the inside was pretty 'meh'. However, the location of the building is STUNNING. Pretty steep entrance fee but I suppose they have a very large property to manage. Sheep everywhere up the mountain sides and...More

Was so excited to visit this beautiful location, so it was a bit disappointing to find scaffolding covering a good share of the building as we arrived. It was also a surprise and a disappointment to find out that ticket we purchased to view the...More

We just got tickets when we arrived. It wasn't crowded but we were there in May. Yes, there were many visitors (even a few bus fulls) but it's spacious enough not to be crowded, except in the house. The gardens are amazing... More

Free areas are limited to the gift shop, parking lot, and restaurant. That being said, it's a beautiful drive, near Connemara National Park, and they have a great gift shop. You can enjoy the visit without having to pay to... More
