We have been to many Bastides in France. This is without a doubt the most impressive and clean/organized one we have ever visited. Highly recommend.

We spent a week in Monpazier and were surprised every day by something new. There is a market on Thursdays but also an antique market on the weekends. Lovely shops in the cloisters of the square plus a bar, a cafe and a restaurant.

The architecture of this small city has been preserved and renovated with style. However the restaurants and merchants have a tendency to invade the place, a common plight of tourism I guess.

Well situated beautiful medieval town, quiet, easy parking outside the bastide but easy level access to all points within, self guided walking tour with supporting wall plaques and a free map, busy local market on thursday but still no problem parking, signed toilets. Several opportunities...More

Beautiful medieval town quite unspoilt by modern life. The architecture is worth seeing ( unlike most medieval towns it’s built on Pythagoras grid), and lots of lovely local shops selling handmade goods.

Came here on a recommendation from our Gite owners. Well we were blown away. Not only was it stunningly beautiful, well preserved and sunny but there was hardly anyone else there! Admittedly low season but we had great weather and got to stroll around crowd...More

This is a perfect example of the local bastide villages of this region. It was lovely to have a drink in the square and watch the world go by.

This bastide is perfectly intact and so it's the one to see if you only have time for one. We found parking outside the walls easily, and strolled through the whole town. There's a nice cathedral and market square, some shops and places to eat....More
