Weather your a church goer or not this s must see if your visiting Nettuno. There is mass if you want to attend, you can just use it as meeting place to sit and chat or you can visit the souvenir shop for some inexpensive trinkets. You can explore further if you want to see were Santa Maria goretti was laid to rest

Story of forgiveness
Apr 2018
This has a precious story of forgiveness. My grandmother's sister painted murals in the original church and we went to see them. Unfortunately, according to the priest they were destroyed by a storm and waves so the new church has nothing remaining of that building other than the back wall where the main entrance now exists. I was sad because I did not know and from what we were told, there are no photos of the old murals.

Sanctuary of Saint Maria Goretti
Jun 2017 • Friends
before visiting this sanctuary, we first visited her house in a small villa called Le Ferriere, a 10 km from the sanctuary. this sanctuary is a good place for pilgrimage and who wish to know more about Maria Goretti by seeing some of her artifacts. after visiting the shrine, we enjoyed walking along the beach which is just right side of the shrine.

Church of St Maria Goretti
Oct 2017 • Couples
What a lovely church in its simplicity. Very serene and peaceful. Life story of Maria Goretti in the crypt in lower level of the church. Story was told in written and picture form. Nuns were very informative too.

Jubilee Year of Mercy
Oct 2016 • Friends
The seaside shrine is just a few feet away from the beach. The facade is a bit modern in design. The historical structure has to take a backseat to secure the preservation of the church vis-a-vis location of the church.

The shrine is dedicated to both the Madonna Delle Grazie (Our Lady of Grace) and St. Maria Goretti, the youngest martyr in the annals of the Catholic church.

The upper shrine is dedicated to the image of the Madonna. According to history, the icon was originally called the Our Lady of Ipswich but was secretly loaded on a ship by sailors in the 1500s to avoid desecration under the rule of Kind Henry VIII. It was originally planned to be unloaded in Naples but due to some divine intervention it was kept and enshrined in Nettuno. A young girl by the name of Maria Goretti used to visit the church when she was still alive.

The lower shrine was dedicated to St. Maria Goretti, who gave up her life to preserve her purity at age 11. She was stabbed 14 times by her murderer; she died the following day. But before she died, she willingly forgave her murderer and wished him to be with her in heaven someday. It is actually a story of purity and forgiveness.

There is also a museum and gift shop about the saint. Her actual locks of hair, the medallion that was imposed on her before she died, the operating table, etc. can be found inside the museum.

If someone is having a hard time forgiving his/her enemy, one must visit this place and ask for Saint Maria Goretti's intercession. Definitely, I recommend this place.

Beautiful Church

Did not have the time to go inside but the outside is very peaceful. The arches on the side and the main entrance in the center are the highlights

Incredible history of Maria Goretti
Dec 2016 • Family
We traveled to the church to visit the crypt where Maria Goretti is laid to rest. At such a young age, she had such a huge, loving and forgiving heart. The gentleman in the bookshop shared a lot of information about Marietta and her family and for that we are grateful.

The room set off from the crypt has an incredible display of dioramas that impressed my entire family. They depicted different scenes from Maria's life and are truly well-done. The church also has a fantastic website for more information, complete with a live-feed.
