We went to photograph the puffins and we not disappointed. There were thousands of them. We got lots of good shots. The only downside was no where to get refreshments and the day was extremely hot. We did have a few things with us but...More

We visited at the end of September - the last weekend the boat was running - so there was hardly anyone else on the island (in fact, we didn't see another soul until we returned to the boat at the end of the day). It...More

We were travelling out of the 'correct' time of year for this island so we knew there were going to be none of the sea birds that normally nest on the island in May/July time. However we thought it would still be worth a visit...More

This is an amazing day out. The island has a unique sea bird population and is a must see for anyone interested in wildlife. Highlight for us was seeing the puffins. You need to buy an island landing ticket to get onto the island first...More

We went on a trip to this island via Zodiac. Got lucky had good water conditions. The island was a murre and puffinn rookery as well and many other species on the cliff and in the water.

Great day out but be prepared for all weather. Binoculars recommended to view the elusive seals. Fantastic day out and managed to see all we wanted. Take food & drink!

You need to get to the ticket office early in the morning (and I mean befrore 6am) to stand any chance of securing a ticket out on the boat across to Skomer. Even then you won't know till the office opens at 8am if the...More

We took the lunchtime cruise around the islands as we had our dogs with us who are understandably not permitted onto the island! The trip was great - early start to reserve our tickets and the boat ride was about an hour long. We saw...More

As it was a miserable day we took a boat ride rather than land on the island and we are so glad we did. Apparently most of the puffins leave the island in July as their fledglings are ready. We were very lucky as we...More

I caught the boat over and enjoyed landing last year on my birthday. I walked all around the island and enjoyed the birds. The little hides where you can peep through wooden shutters and watch the many birds playing the water was just lovely. I...More

You need to check with the boat companies first as to whether they are running to the islands - some go to the end of October but not sure about Skomer. There won't be puffins and most of the seabirds will have gone out to... More

You can queue get the tickets and then go back for the boat. So no need to take the kids to get the tickets.

3 run each day. You will be given a time as they fill up the boat. You get approx 5 hours on the island.
