Huge sacred space

We arrived just as Mass started in this beautiful church dedicated to San Lorenzo. The art work and golden finishes were impressive

Unique Style
Oct 2018 • Couples
This was one of the only churches open on a Monday in Spello. Not much from the outside but the inside is beautiful in its own unique style. Free admission and worth checking out if you’re in Spello for the day

Much nicer than the exterior make it appear
May 2018 • Couples
The exterior was not that impressive; but it doesn’t necessarily indicate the interior’s beauty. And the interior was quite nice. It had a smaller version of a Bernini type canopy like in the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Cathedral. The altar sat on an old Roman column. I really liked the beautiful chapels.

A plain exterior but beauty within.
Apr 2018 • Couples
The plain exterior of the building tells nothing of the beauty of within, inside this twelfth century church named after San Lorenzo the Martyr are some beautiful pieces of artwork, from the large central wooden canopy from the seventeenth century to the beautiful fresco of the 'Mystic Marriage of Santa Caterina' dating from the year 1435 and two angels fresco from the sixteenth century. It was a pleasure to visit this Umbrian church.

Don't let the outside fool you
Oct 2017 • Friends
Once inside this church the artwork is amazing. The altar is set atop an old Roman column coming up through the floor. You feel as you've stepped back in time as you walk through this church. It has a very "old world" feel, untouched by time.
