Absolutely fantastic!!
Oct 2020 • Family
We popped in on the off chance there was space to paint, luckily for us there was.

We were a family of four and there was so many choices for all of us to pick from, the kids really struggled to choose! We had a fantastic time, we found it very therapeutic, at times you could hear a pin drop with how busy we were bringing our creations to life.

The business is very covid secure and the owners are very attentive and on hand with some fantastic ideas. We are receiving our finished models by post and cannot wait for them to arrive.

I would not hesitate to recommend Capel Clay!!

Fantastic way to spend a few hours. You will want to go back for more!

Booked a 2 hour painting session for 3 of us via Facebook. Choose our own pieces to paint from a well stocked range so you make the day as cheap or expense as you like. There are also many painted items around to help you with some inspiration. Owners are extremely welcoming and very helpful and gave loads of hints and tips. We had never done this before and loved it. Even if it's at the end of your stay, you can have your piece(s) posted to you once is been fired. Cannot wait for ours to arrive in the post.

Great pottery painting studio.

We have visited this place twice, a year apart, and had a great experience both times. You are greeted with a smile and the warm welcome continues throughout your stay. The people who run it are so friendly, informative and make you feel welcome and relaxed. They are more than happy to answer any questions you have, give you tips or help you fix any mistakes!
There is a wide selection of pottery to paint with painted examples around the studio for ideas and lots of paints to choose from, including glittery and speckled ones. The kids in our group who were 8, 10 and 12 really enjoyed the activity.
The studio is well organised to fit with Covid compliance too. You book in online and get a 2 hour time slot.

A great activity for all ages.

Painting for Pebble
Feb 2020 • Couples
We popped in on an extremely wet Saturday over Valentine’s weekend to find some ornaments and decorate them for our first child (currently referred to as Pebble, due May 2nd 2020).
I found a sleeping dragon and my wife found a friendly dwarf figure....the scene was set! After a warm welcome (and some hand towels to wipe my glasses) we were told what to do and set to painting our figurines. I hadn’t done any kind of painting for years and found it really relaxing. There were lots of people doing the same thing, of all ages and the atmosphere was really relaxing and pleasant, great way to spend an afternoon out of the rain!
Our creations have just arrived with us in the post today and they are fabulous! Hope Pebble likes them as much as we do!
Thanks Capel Clay, hopefully we’ll return one day and baby can paint for him/herself!

Fabulous half term activity

Our third visit with the granddaughter, absolutely enthralling and satisfying activity. Very relaxed atmosphere, lots of friendly advice and tips, no pressure to complete within a session, and the thrill of collecting the fired pottery. Thoroughly recommended.

Relaxing and peaceful

Came in with friends during a rainy day and absolutely loved it. The owner was extremely helpful and welcoming explaining the process with many options of different ceramics, paints and techniques. Suggesting different ways of applying the paint. Im not an artist by no means so managing to create something that I'm proud of is an achievement. Excellent place.

Great!
Aug 2019
Very friendly and helpful staff - happy to fix your work when you make a mistake, and advise on colours, technique etc. But not pushy or nosy if you want to do it yourself. a large array of options to paint, all very reasonably priced. Was quiet when we arrived on a rainy day in the summer holidays so got on straight away, did get busier but was never completely full. We stayed about 4 hours very happily! They have drinks available which were very nice and cheap, And were happy for us to eat our own food that we bought in the bakery on the high street ( also would recommend highly - delicious). We visited on the last day of our holiday but they were happy to post which was also very reasonable priced. We made 3 items, bought 2 drinks each and postage was in all less than £40 - great value. Lots of parking in public car park just out the back - but make sure to park in long stay to give yourself enough time - we had to go and move the car after our 3 hours parking was up and we were still merrily painting away. We first went to Corris craft centre but there choice was extremely poor so we left- so happy we ended up here.

Fun morning out of the rain!
Aug 2019 • Friends
Went in to Capel Clay for a quick paint with my friends as it was forecast rain all day. We all ended up spending hours in there perfecting our plates and mugs, etc. even when it stopped raining. The owners were so helpful, informative and friendly. One of the best activities on our holiday!
