Truly dreadful…..
May 2021
Ate at the pub. We were the first to arrive for the evening service. The interior is very dated, with old carpeting which is never great in a pub /restaurant. There were strips of silver gaffer tape and loose cables across the floor. There was an old yellow plastic bucket in the grate. We were very surprised to hear the hostess complaining loudly about guests who had just arrived to stay in the pub accommodation. She was mimicking them to another member of staff and then came over to share her annoyance with us. All because the guests had the temerity to ask for a double bed when they could easily push two singles together. Shame on them! The lack of professionalism continued with a waitress walking around, serving behind the bar and at tables wearing an anorak. My partner ordered the black pudding, chorizo and cheese sauce starter. What arrived was appalling. Two pieces of black pudding, a thin slice of chorizo cut in half and placed on each piece of black pudding with the whole lot drowned in white glutinous gloop which was masquerading as the cheese sauce. It was served on a vegetable side plate. No garnish, no effort at presentation, simply dolloped on the plate. I ordered the 'Bryn Bara' something the hostess was particularly proud to recommend. It was a beef stew served in a bread basket. I have eaten something similar in restaurants before and it is usually a 'show stopper' . Bryn Bara was most definitely a "show stopper", it certainly stopped me in my tracks when it arrived. Half a loaf of bread with stew "plonked" on top. No finesse at all. The monk fish linguine although equally unattractive was passable. The chef is trying to produce gourmet food but fails to deliver. I think the establishment should stick to basic pub fayre such as plougmans lunches or similar. This place needs a complete make over......... over to you Gordon Ramsey!

Cozy and comfortable!
Sep 2019
We chose this location for proximity to our planned activities. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and shown to our room which was as we requested. The Bryntirion is cozy and comfortable, complete with greeting cat!

Our hosts were charming, welcoming and lovely people.

The menu was extensive and the food was delicious! Must try!

Thank you Linda and Martin!

Delicious Sunday Lunches
Sep 2019
Visited recently for Sunday lunch, wasn’t expecting much to be honest. We ordered four meals, three beef one chicken and they were lovely, cooked extremely well, the gravy was especially worth a note. The service was attentive, loved the little bar, I noticed a mix of locals and tourists alike which is always a good sign. Highly recommended

Have visited here a number of times and always find a cheerful welcome ( to two legged and four legged visitors). Highly recommend the curry’s especially the prawn ( when available) and also the pork belly. Dogs very welcome no matter size !! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Okay Pub
Sep 2018
This pub seems to be well frequented by locals, but it seems that the diners were mostly tourists. It had nice character and very small tables. We had made a reservation but when we arrived we found that someone else had seated themselves at the only table suitable for 4 people. The proprietor did not ask them to move and instead sat the four of us at a table for two. It was very intimate indeed! Three of us had the recommended roast lamb, which was very tough. The fourth in our group was served a loaf of bread, cut open and with beef stew on the top, but mostly bread. It has put us off of pub grub for awhile.
