No visit to this region is complete without a trip to the bridge. The ride to and from town and across the bridge was about $12 US. Designed by the architect of the Brooklyn Bridge this is an historical marvel of technology and well worth...More

Spanning the Rio Cauca not far from Santa Fe de Antioquia (a cheap tuk-tuk ride from town) the bridge which was built in 1895 stands proudly above the churning river waters. Open for cars it has one single track. Before it was opened to the...More

You can either drive or walk over the bridge to the other side. A bit scary because you can feel the bridge sway a bit as you are going over. Traffic is controlled with 1 or 2 cars crossing at a time. The traffic is...More

You can get the bridge after 20 minutes driving by car. It is beautifull, it is nice to cross it by foot, take some photos and after that enjoy an ice cream.

Beautiful viewsof the river valley. Definitely worth going over the bridge to see both sides. Steep approach so be prepared for a long walk / cycle (or take a motorcab).

It is a bit concerning to get here and cross the bridge on car, very narrow and very congested. Walking the bridge on the other side is amazing, thrilling. The mighty Cauca right under, this river is so wide is unreal. The trip over is...More

Just a few kilometers outside the city center (you can go there and back with a tuk-tuk for about 15.000 pesos) the Puente de Occidente is a must-see if you're passionate about engineering and architecture.

From downtown Santa Fe, I took a moto-taxi to the bridge. It's about a 10 minute ride from downtown, and very scenic, with a great history. My driver was excited about telling the story of how a Colombian apprentice on the Brooklyn Bridge returned home...More
