Relly disappointing service in the restaurant today. Staff chatting whilst customers waited then didn't take my order correctly and it had to be sent back.
Very expensive and for the level of service provided its just not worth the money.

Also visited the pick your own, strawberries advertised but at least 80./, of them were rotting, whilst I can understand this is due to the recent rain, They need tidying up and you need to stop selling tickets to pick strawberries when you actually don't have the goods to sell.

The cafe here looks great but that’s where it ends. Midweek lunch was average at best - jacket potato with the driest chilli I’ve ever tasted. Husbands burger wasn’t much better. Returned this Sunday as wanted to buy plants (and these are top quality) and thought we’d give the date another chance.
Roast dinner was dreadful - I know it’s mass catering but serving up speed up carrots and brown dried up broccoli, huge parsnips hard to the point of being inedible, accompanied by meat that had clearly been sliced and kept warm for hours.
And the noise! Huge numbers of screaming kids. Why on earth they can’t have just one area child-free or perhaps ask that children are not allowed to stand on seats and play on tables…..
Finally - it’s far from cheap. So expensive badly cooked food - avoid.

Today I paid a visit to, what used to be, my favourite lunch cafe. I knew it had changed hands but did they have to change every good thing about it? Long queues to get served, asked if I’d a table number, I said no because by the time I’ve stood here it’ll be away! Staff didn’t seem to understand anyone, not sure if they’re not English speaking but it was frustrating to hear everyone repeat orders.
I ordered 2 plates of egg, ham and chips and had barely sat down when it came to the table. Cold Chips were cheap oven variety, some hard in the middle, eggs were awful, not cooked with yolk and watery gel running over the pieces of ham. Now the whole dinner was spoiled! I asked for the manager but she was on the phone. I waited twenty minutes and as I got up I spoke to a waitress who pointed out the manager talking to another customer with a complaint. I decided to leave without getting a refund but can assure whoever is running this once lovely cafe, you’ll lose all the regular customers who’ve come expecting good food and service.
Cheap food at restaurant prices is not what we expect from Garsons.

We went for lunch on the 17 June on the hottest day of the year. The service was very fast and the food was very tasty. The comment I would like to make is I had the butternut squash salad at 10.95, it tasted very nice but for a bowl of a few salad leaves, lentils, dressing and five thins slices of butternut squash it seems very pricey. The ingredients in this salad are probably the cheapest you can get so please give me more butternut squash

Love this beautiful garden centre but especially at Christmas.
Good quality plants and different to other garden centres too so much choice.
The restaurant is great but as you would expect rather expensive ie £9.95 for blueberry pancakes or £12.95 for a large breakfast although both were very nice. Disabled clients well catered for too.

I live in Derbyshire but have visited Garson’s on several occasions as my cousin lives nearby. The garden centre and deli/food area is excellent, if a little expensive, compared to Derbyshire prices.
We visited on Monday 6 June and went into the cafe for a drink. This is the main reason for my “average” review. I think the management of the cafe needs looking at. All we wanted was a drink and a pack of biscuits but this seemed to create a problem at the till and I was told I couldn’t carry my cup of tea and pack of biscuits over to the table myself. The cashier insisted I gave her a table number so they could bring the tea over to our table. Quite understandable if it’s meal which needs time to prepare... but a cup of tea and a biscuit...ridiculous. The tea arrived in a metal teapot. I had to find something to put around the extremely hot handle in order to pour the tea!
We sat there for approx 15 mins surrounded by empty tables completely covered in dirty pots which hadn’t been cleared away and there was no sign of anyone coming to clear the tables and to clean them. This included the dirty pots still left on the table we were sitting at. Looking over to the till area where the drinks are served I counted at least 4 members of staff behind the tills who didn’t seem very busy. Surely the management can organise the duties of the staff better than that. Customers were turning up and clearing their own tables...really bad!

First visit to this outstanding garden centre The number of plans and all possible garden accessories is remarkable. We had breakfast and cappuccinos which were excellent.Plenty of free parking in this very large garden centre. And well worth another visit

My family and I used to love coming to Garsons, but since the expansions, it has gone downhill. Despite having a large pet section, dogs are no longer allowed which is a ridiculous decision. The cafe is chaotic and the food mediocre. And overall, the place is less garden centre and more John Lewis these days. It feels like a rethink is required…

Today I visited Garsons for a coffee and to visit the garden centre. Great improvements since I visited in 2019. The farm shop can now be reached through the store without having to go outside.
Everything top quality, the cakes and coffee, the bedding plants. I am sorry I live too far away to visit more frequently.

This review is solely based on the restaurant. The garden centre itself is lovely and the toy section brilliant for kids.

The food is nothing short of disgraceful, I’ve eaten there twice in the the last week and both times it’s so so poor. They clearly don’t seem to care either as the reviews seem to be consistent for some time.

Today I ordered the full English,, I think. Bacon was just about cooked and very very wet? The egg looked like it had been cooked for a week or so. Hash brown burnt. Mushrooms inedible and the wilted rocket was vile.
