At about 2 hours by boat from Milazzo there is this beautiful island which looked to be designed and decorated by artists. Fantastic gardens, villas, views, it deserve a visit linking it with Stromboli island nearby.

A beautiful and special place. To be avoided in August because overcrowded. The Beauty Of This place is The Simplicity, no cars are allowed The Island Is simply to small. Part or a group of 7 very different islands (Aeolian Islands) all well connected to one another. The sea is just beautiful, better than the Caribbean for sure. A must: pay a visit to Stromboli an active vulcano who gives the name to the island. Black volcanic sand crystal clear water ...

Allow me to preface by saying that this tour is along, long day....pick up was 9:00am and got back at 11:30 pm. Times will vary depending on your pick up and drop off but expect at least a 15 hour day. Tour took us to the port and our first stop was Panarea. The boat does have a bar for coffee and snacks. The captain also went by beautiful spots for photo opportunities. There was a guide on the boat that spoke in several languages. The island of Panarea is tiny. There is absolutely nothing to see or do. Picturesque in some parts. There is no main square or area. We had 2.5 hours there at leisure (no tour or guide). You can walk around and eat or go to the beach...but not both. The beach is a bit of a hike unless you take a taxi there and back. For the ones on the tour that opted for beach time, said that it wasn't that pretty. Shopping is limited ... Not much to buy. In addition, you have to pay a port tax of 1.50 euro. We paid our tour leader on the bus. Cash only. If you can, have exact change. Back on the same boat and off to Stromboli. 2.5 hours there at leisure as well. Again, nothing to see or do. The beach is black due to volcanic activity -- it is not dirty! You can see the house that Ingrid Bergman stayed at while filming the movie "Stromboli" and the church that was in the film ( if is is of interest to you). Otherwise, there is nothing else to see or do. Again, no main square or area other than the port area. Back in the same boat. It is the same boat throughout the tour. There were several people on this boat -- not just the people on your tour so you may not want to leave your belongings behind. Shortly after boarding, we were served a light dinner consisting of pasta, a piece of bread, and a bottle of water was on each table and a carton of wine. Again, you can purchase coffee and snacks from the bar on board. The boat went around at about sunset and we waited to see volcanic activity. We did see a few eruptions from the boat but it was still daytime, so all you were able to see was a bit of dark smoke. At night, we were able to see 2 very brief explosions...if you blinked, you missed them. The boat then left to head back to the port and the tour was over. Paid 95 euro for this tour with SAT Tour Group. Due to the fact that it is a long day and the islands are boring, I would not recommend this tour ( and I am not blaming the tour group at all).
