A blow the cobwebs away walk on NYD got the lungs working climbing the hill to view this ruin. Great views all around from the highest vantage point, though there was nothing else going on. Unless you are an historian, please don't go especially.

We love to visit castles, and this trip wasn't an exception. Usk was my favorite. It's privately owned, and has a quirky and personal touch. Most Welsh castles are grey rock rising out of sheep-mown grass. This has artwork, flowers, and friendly chickens. We really...More

We only went to the castle as we were passing through, but it is certainly worth a visit. There may not be a lot there but it has an enough to make it interesting and it is very well presented with really good views

Very informal, put some money in the honesty box, and wonder around as you like. Good views over Usk and some very informative notice boards.

Part of the Usk Castle is a ruin but some of it is obviously used in some fashion. The grounds were lovely and it was possible to walk and enjoy this area.

We visited on a week day when it was quiet, so we enjoyed sitting and taking it all in.So peaceful and quiet just hens clucking around. No refreshments but cafes in nearby Usk. Friendly Lady with a wheelbarrow welcomed us.Donations on arrival are requested

Usk Castle is more than anyone could be expecting. As soon as you drive or walk up the hill to it's entrances, it greets visitors with a charming green scenary that will make you feel you are deep in the woods. As you start climbing...More

It's free but they ask for £2.00 donation and welcome any extra donations to keep it running. It's worth giving them a bit more as they really need this money. The views are stunning, the gardens are maintained really well! There were chickens running around,...More
