This is a little treasure! As a keen gardener the herbaceous boarders are charming with place sit and look over the town and have a picnic. It even had Giant Hogweed (part of the Cow Parsley family) which there was a notice to not touch...More

This is one of the castles that we enjoyed the most. It is privately owned and obviously loved with the beautiful planting in the grounds. You place a small donation in the box and then place a pebble per person in a pot so they...More

I visited two days in a row because I was so impressed with the castle. The gardens and ruins are lovingly cared for and the owners are generous enough to leave the grounds open. Wish I was in town for an upcoming jazz festival.

It's not very often you find a gem like this - it's free to get in - donations apprecaited - no restrictions on where you go. Have fun and enjoy!

Lovely to walk around the castle and grounds for an hour. Kept very well by the Humphries Family. The castle isn’t huge, and is on several different levels. The gardens are well kept.

Visited today and are really glad we did. The castle is semi ruined with an impressive history. It’s beautifully kept and the views are stunning. There is no entry fee but you can leave a donation, which we did as it was well worth it....More

Small voluntary donation to entry this was a lovely treat at the end of a nice country walk, real sense of the history around sections of the old castle, free chickens and nice carvings helped with unexpected sunshine made this quite memorable
