To get the most out of this visit, you really need to be with a guide to explain the history of the place and the complex religion. More steep steps to negotiate but worth the climb!

Feeling as if we are in the lamasery of the famous james Hilton s book, the lost horizon. You can easily spend a day, just looking around, feeling the atmosphere of the place. This is the best monastery we ever went to

If you can't get to the Potala in Lhasa, then come here. Its often called the Little Potala - huge monastery will immerse you in Buddhist and Tibetan culture. Don't miss it is you are in Shangri La
