Nicopolis is an ancient city that was built on 31 B.C by Octavios after the batle of Aktio. If you translate it from Greek to English Nicopolis, means the city of victory. It is placed just outside the town of Preveza. It is great for someone that is interested in ancient history to visit that place. Also the museum that they recently built near the ancient city of Nicopolis is one of the most moderate and intresting musuems in Greece.

Vast and large areas of ruins that are badly directed and advertised. Your best option is to drive around and find each locations yourself as I tried.

We are dealing here with two related sites. The actual location of the old city of Nicopolis, and the associated museum about 1km away in the outskirts of Preveza. We got it wrong! If you want to understand what you are looking at you MUST...More

It is the best cultural heritage monument in Preveza. However, the new Nicopolis museum is not very close to the ancient city of Nicopolis. It is quite far away. The visitor might have the wrong impression that there is not any museum. On the contrary,...More

Relatively small, but good exhibition that includes a lot of worth pieces. Do not miss to visit the archeological site few kilometres away which is included in ticket price.

Finally the greeks have discovered how to present their history in a way that tourists can understand! This is an exceptionally good and interesting museum a short drive down the road from the Nicopolis site (next to Lidl!) and is a modern building which shows...More
