Dont expect a castle as there are only walls and piles of rocks but the view is marvelous. An enterence fee has to be paid and its quite a climb

Monsegur was the last refuge of the Cathars, a sect that resisted the catholic church in the 12th century. Not a military stronghold, but a last hiding place - after its surrender 200 Cathars were burnt alive. Very moving history
