This is a great hike. I'm fit, and found it asking me a lot of quesitons ! Probably the heat, in Feb, didn't help - generally no shade on offer while hiking. Best time is obviously when the whales are there, from Julyish.

Anyone interested in exploring South Africa's floral kingdom should come on this trail...for 5 days you trek through differing habitats with stunningly beautiful and majestic scenery: mountain and coastal, sandstone and limestone and can only marvel at the huge range of plants and flowers that make up the fynbos. We visited in late November and were treated to glorious colours... More

The Whale trail is a must for passionate nature lovers and hikers alike. The scenery is spectacular and it's a most special experience in every way. Sadly it is not well signposted and special spots like the blow holes and rock pools can be easily missed. The solar system powering lights in the huts is inadequate, and there are only... More

I honestly can't believe this hike isn't world famous. It was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. Imagine being with just a handful of people, watching a beautiful sunset over the ocean as a whale and its calf slowly cross in front of you. I feel so fortunate to have done the hike with guides who could... More

We recently completed the whale hiking trail. It was a truely amazing experience. The hike is not too difficult, but it can become very hot as shade is limited. The natural beauty of the coast is amazing. The facilities at the huts were really good compared to other hikes. The huts had hot showers and good bathroom facilities. I would... More

The trail was very interesting particularly the last 3 days along the coast from Noetsie which was the best accommadation as well. We had good weather and saw some whales, not a lot,but the scenery was fabulous.Amazing flowers, rock formations, blow holes and beaches. The guides were excellent and the food provided was outstanding I thought. Gill went to a lot of trouble... More

It was not for the lack of trying, but the whales (8) were there the day before, but on our day it was cold and windy. This is the place to stop and spend a few days and hopefully you get to see the whales

What an incredible 5 days - we had the trail to ourselves only six of us. Most beautiful coastline - we saw lots of whales - can't wait to do it again next year.
