An easy walk with wonderful views all the way round. We started and finished in Buttermere where there is a choice of pub food or cafe.

If you are feeling ennergetic, there is a great walk around the lake. The far side is a lot easier than the road side. Starting from the village, most walk anti clockwise. However, its nice 10 min walk down to the lake shore and admire...More

Excellent friendly pub. My staffy boy was treated like royalty, spoilt rotten with attention and treats. We on the other hand had a fantastic lamb Henry with beautiful mash and excellent red cabbage. Will definitely be back

This village is beautiful, we walked around Buttermere lake which was 4miles and quite flat followed by a walk up to scaleforce, the weather was stunning and the views were breath taking. The village was busy with other walkers so you have to get there...More

Both the village of Buttermere and the lake itself are stunningly beautiful. Surrounded by such peaks as Fleetwith Pike, Haystacks (Wainwright's favourite), High Crag and High Stile the setting couldn't be better. It is a great starting point to climb some of the aforementioned summits...More

I have walked around Buttermere a few times in the past but recent trips have seen me walking part way along either side and swimming in between. The views are spectacular whether you are on the path or suspended in the water taking time to...More

Been wanting to visit Buttermere for a few years and finally made it on a beautiful dry cold sunny Monday. The road coming in (not Honister Pass) was quite scary, a 20% decline in 1st gear as the roads were wet and some places lightly...More

What a stunning drive along the lakeshore with passing/parking points to decamp and really take in the unspoilt splendour of this lake - no zip wires here!

We drove here from Keswick which was pleasantly quite a short drive through some lovely scenic roads. When arriving we parked up and made our way around the lake on the walk, it was nice and pleasant with good footpaths. Passing walkers were all very...More
