If you are on a canal boat on the Leeds and Liverpool canal then you have to do the Bingley 5 rise locks along with the baby brother, the 3 rise locks. They are an engineering marvel and are astonishing, if a little scary, to...More

A lovely attraction to explore, we visited this attraction and it is a very impressive sight, you can either walk down the five levels or down the side path, I decided to walk down the path along side, climbing back up the five levels, 15...More

You must visit to admire the wonder and ingenuity but more important experience them in a narrow boat. Only then will you experience the full majesty and beauty. The lock keepers are so friendly and helpful.

This is the third time we have stayed here. Great place, lovely comfortable rooms and the hosts are very welcoming and accommodating. The food is excellent and the honesty bar is a great touch, as you can still have a night cap even if the...More

I cycle past here regularly and if there are boats going through the locks then I watch them. Fantastic to see and there is a cafe nearby as well as a great view from the top.

Really nice to see with a lovely walk down by the canal. Well looked after with the ability to get close to the canal edge - makes stomach turn !! Stop at the cafe for a nice drink and cake.

This is the steepest lock 'staircase' in the UK. It was opened on 1774 to raise the Leeds and Liverpool canal to the Airedale Valley. It was visited by Timothy West and Prunella Scales in their 'Canal Journeys' Programme recently. It would be also a...More

I am pretty sure there are no pleasure craft/day boats that do a tourist type trip to the locks. Other than a local private hire then Skipton is the nearest place. Having said that a barge from Skipton to include... More
