Intriguing title...Saas Bahu Temple...The Saas (mother-in-law) was a vaishnavite..so she had a Vishnu Temple built for worship. The Bahu (daughter-in-law) was a Saivite so she had a much smaller temple built for her to worship in. The disparity in size keeps you wondering about the power-play between the two!!!

On your way back after visiting the Gwalior Fort, tell the car driver to stop over for 30 minutes for a view of the Sas Bahu Temple which is really not about Sas [ mother in law ] and Bahu [ daughter in law ] . The price of admission to the SB Temple is included in the Fort admission... More

This is really a amazing place to visit. Worth going and climb those stiff roads. The architecture of the temple is so mesmerising that you will forget all your pain and enjoy your gain reaching there. Better take your own car you can park it just next the the temple.

This is set on top of the hill and the two separate temples are extremely pretty. The construction is intricate and is certainly a must visit.

Saas Bahu temple is part of the Fort however, but situated outside the fort & requires lot of walking. Motorable road & vehicle could be parked outside the Temple. Internal architecture is incredible. A must visit alongwith the Fort.

Despite what its name may suggest, these temples are not dedicated to Sas (mother-in-law) and Bahu (daughter-in-law) but rather the short form of Shashtra Bahu, another name of Lord Vishnu. These temples situated adjacent to each other and the larger one is elaborately decorated with beautiful carvings and sculptures. A must visit place if you are around Gwalior fort.
