We can start the path from Saariselka, starting from the Kota-shaped building which is located in the eastern part of the town. From this building some routes branch off which are also accessible in winter, one of these is a route of a few kilometers that reaches Laanila. The trail is well maintained and snowshoes were not necessary as it was well trodden. It winds through the woods next to the cross-country ski trail and, although I didn't come across any during my excursion, it is shared with fatbikes. It has no significant differences in height and is therefore four kilometers suitable for everyone. There are no refreshment points along the route, it is better to bring some snacks and a thermos with something hot in case of need. Once you arrive in Laanila you can decide to continue trekking towards the Ruijanpolku Trail, or go back along the same route or, if tired, return to Saariselka by bus.
