Quiet and peaceful activity, don't forget the heating pads in the gloves and shoes if you want to enjoy the raindeer sledge ride!
The raindeers seem well-treated and the staff is very friendly.
Interesting facts about Sami culture and a hot beverage indoors for the family after the ride.
Loved it!

We drove to Saariselka for this experience from Ivalo. I am not used to driving in winter conditions so it took us about an hour, but a more experienced winter driver could do it in 45 mins.

We arrived earlier than the rest of the group which was an incredible treat as we got to meet Tommy, one of the family members, and have chats with him about the reindeer and how they survive winters, how they are caught, and what they do in the summer, before everyone else turned up. He was very kind and informative. Fantastic english skills.

The reindeer are gorgeous. You could get very close to them, given that a lot of them still had their antlers. We were even able to feed them after the excursion. We were not able to touch the reindeer (understandably) and Tommy made this very clear but it was amazing regardless!

We were sat in a sleigh whilst the reindeer pulled us along. They did a fantastic job. Tommy was at the front with a reindeer driving the pack so the rest of the reindeer just followed along a particular path. We did not have to drive which was nice because we could just sit back and relax. They provided us with blankets and a comfortable sleigh to sit in. As my mother was elderly, we got an extra blanket which I thought was very sweet.

For anyone concerned about the ethics of this excursion, the reindeer need more help during the winter to make sure they get enough food to last the winter. They were clearly very loved and very well looked after. They were calm and very sweet animals - they're smaller than you think also! All reindeer in Finland are owned by someone and brought in for the winter to be looked after by their owners and this was no different.

We then had tea and coffee and cake in their home and learnt more about Sami and the reindeer.

An incredible experience. Their online booking portal was also amazing and made it SO easy to book and pay online. This was a real selling point for me when booking all the way from NZ.

Thank you Tommy and family for your time and allowing us into your home. Maybe one day we will be back.

This trip is really fun you drive a snowmobile for a good 30 mins then stop off and have some lunch and a hot drink at a local restaurant. Then only about 5 to 10 minutes to the reindeer farm. I was surprised when we got there as there was only a few reindeer I just thought it was going to be loads of them but turns out there are semi wild and roam free. They have a few to do the rides which was very nice. Afterwards you have a hot drink and a local
Sami tells you all about reindeer and how they have farmed them for many years. Very interesting

We visited the reindeer farm by snow mobile, which was a fun way to travel. The animals were docile, and there was a short ride around an enclosed track. It was an interesting thing to do - once. There was a short cultural talk over hot drinks and snacks, which was focused on the traditions of the Sami people and local flora and fauna. Would be great for kids.

Great experience!! Very nice and welcoming family. Totally worth booking the activity directly with them instead any other tour company in Saariselka.
Very well organized in terms of picking customers from their places!!

We enjoyed a lot seeing the reindeers.

The cake and the tea after the activity while listening to reindeers and Sami’s fun facts was very interesting.

I missed spending more time with the reindeers .. otherwise you are left with the feeling you saw only their back..

I would suggest to them to set aside 10-15 min to take a picture of the families in the sledge with the reindeer. Otherwise you go home and don’t have a nice memory of the activity together with your partner/family. What an easy but impacting way of satisfying your customers!!

Today we had a delightful trip to the local Saariselka reindeer farm. We were welcomed and shown the reindeer by the Sami reindeer hurder who was informative and calm. Followed by a short but fun little sleigh ride. We then had a very cosy fireside chat in a traditional tent with the Sami hurder who openly answered all our Sami and Reindeer questions whilst we drank warm juice and ate the loveliest ginger biscuits. Simple and thoughtfully calm trip.

Peaceful, beautiful and memorable. We went on an Aurora ride - it was lovely to be away from the crowds and in nature, beautiful, silent, forest - and it was just us and our guide. We had a lovely long trek with the reindeer around the forest - the reindeer were plodding happily - not being tugged along as we had seen at a taster session from our tour operator. We then had some cake and berry juice around a roaring fire where we learned more about the reindeer. It was snowing - which was beautiful. Throughly recommend.

Amazing experience!! It was great to know more about the reindeers and the way how the Lapland people take care of them and live in harmony. We arranged to visit the farm because during this time of the year the reindeers are out in the forest. Thx so much for experience! highly recommended

During our visit we had the chance to ride sleighs for a quite lengthy ride around the surrounding forest, as well as hear more about Sami culture and way of life. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance here to feed the reindeers or interact with them, but still a nice experience - though quite pricey.
