A very nice jump in the past

This castle can be seen from long distance, it is located on a hill scraping with its towers to the sky. You can reach it by car, this way is very quick and easy. Or you can go on foot following the "sentiero del pellegrino", and admire more the location step by step, the historic towers of Noli Village, the flowers and nature. On top, you gave the feeling that they are surveying the sea from this hight, and this was the plan, a very prepared guide (volunteer) will show you all the secrets of this castle, visit and entrance at a very cheep ticket price 2 € it's really recommended.

Great insights into middle age life

Great and insightful visit made particularly interesting by the quality of the guide who’s a passionate local history researcher and teacher. From the castle, some beautiful views on the sea shore and the centre of Noli.

Great trip, fantastic views, amazing history

What a lovely and well restored old fortress. The walk up was doable with kids despite the heat and a quick stop at the cities cemetery added another piece of Italian habits and history. Greeted at the gate of the castle by the history professor Francesco, a volunteer, supporting the local community with his services. Francesco gave us a very interesting run down of Noli and Ligurian history starting from the 10th century. His witty delivery even entertained our kids to a point that they want to come back should we ever visit Noli again. The views from up there are fantastic and even that was already worth the hike. We finished the tour with an introduction to the army’s weaponry and the kids were allowed to hold the swords and parts of early armoury. Thanks Francesco! Thanks Castello di Monte Ursino!

A touch of history
Dec 2019 • Family
We have been very lucky to visit Castello di Monte Ursino at the end of a beautiful winter day. Our kids, 7 and 4 years old, were enthusiastic and loved every moment during the visit. The view on the coast is impeccable and the castle is kept safe and clean. The lift did not work, which might be an issue for people with impaired mobility.
On our way out, we were told about the history of the castle, all the relevant facts about the maintenance of the site and its geographical and political presence. The volunteers were friendly, professional and passionate about this amazing gem of the ligurian hills. Grazie mille!
