Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great find off the beaten track. Small car park at bottom of hill with choice of two walks up to the castle. One steep climb up steps or gentle wind up the hill at the back of the castle. We chose the latter as we had small kids with us. There were horses in the field behind the castle. The castle backs right on to a private residence. Only the bottom floor is accessible which was a bit disappointing but still interesting.

Great castle to visit we went along the path then back by the stairs to the carpark. It has a little orchard. Sadly you cannot climb the stairs to the upper level.

This small castle ruin is signposted from the B9008, with a car parking area just a few minutes from it. The steps to the castle were closed for repair when I visited a few days ago, but another path was marked from the car park which was more gradual, with no steps, and led around the base of the hill then upwards, with gorgeous views of the hills and forests beyond. Although this alternative path was a little longer (maybe adds an extra 5 minutes, 10 at most), the view was gorgeous from this path and so I would recommend it even when the steps reopen.

The ruin itself is small and is within a walled area that also contains a well-maintained garden area (would be nice for a picnic) and is very close to a house. The castle is shaped like a tower house and has a ground-level vaulted area and some narrow stone steps leading to a first-floor area that is open to the elements. Aside from these two "rooms", there is not much more to see. There are no views from the castle itself. It's worth a brief stop (probably no more than 15 minutes) if you're passing through the area but I wouldn't make a special journey for it. Free entrance, free parking.

Great walk round the countryside and up the hill to the Drumin Castle ruin - also the community orchard - great views too!

A lovely setting with the river bumbling passed. Nice and clean with no litter. Handy little car park with a short windy path to climb up to the ruin of the castle. Alexander Stewart lived here (also known as the Wolf of Badenoch & famous for burning the Elgin Cathedral to how you see it today). We also didnt know about it but found it here on Trip Advisor. There are so many walks to do in this area so we will return. We only did the 500m circular walk which took in the castle. These ruins always makes us wonder what they would look like in their full glory. We hope you enjoy this castle as much as we did

This castle is not in many guide books. We were staying close by and heard about it by chance.
The castle is on top a hill and you take a short steep walk on a winding path to the summit. The castle is more like a ruin and there are no facilities whatsoever. This is what made the trip so special no facilities and no people, we were the only ones there which gave us more of a sense of history.
If you are in the area the castle is a 5 minute drive from the Glenlivet Distillery or a healthy walk.

Drumin is off the main road and up a dirt path, overlooking a a beautiful valley. Only a few ruins to look at but they are neat and in a quiet area. If you have time and just want to wander through, definitely a good spot!

There is just the remains of the massive keep to look at here on top of a hill after a climb up from the car park. Some interpretation boards help put it in context but any visit will probably be short as there are no visitor facilities on site.

The ruins of Drumin Castle were a joy to visit, although the car park was a little difficult to find, there was disabled access which is a necessity. Once we were parked we took the short circular walk round to the castle which had lovely views. The ruin itself is well kept and gently impressive. The stepped walk down to the car park was adequately maintained and had a lovely scent from the vegetation. Considering there are no entrance or parking charges this was an enjoyable visit.

The castle isn't much to speak of ... since it is a ruin, but the great thing is that it sits in the Glenlivet Estate owned by Liz and The Crown Estate. Located 4 miles from Ballindalloch via the B9008 road it is nestled between the Avon and Livet in the Northern corner of the Estate. The river Livet flows past surrounded by wonderful woodlands. Plenty of walking trails in the surrounding areas.

There is handicapped parking/access to the Castle area which is located on top of a small hill. And the best part of all is that there is no entrance or parking fees at all. (a rare thing in Scotland) The Queen of England says it's her treat!

So take a walk and enjoy the scenery!
