Bit of a journey to get up there, but oh so worth it... The craftsmanship of the mosaics is breathtaking, as is the view. To be honest, it took so long to get there that my youngest wasn't as enthusiastic as I was to marvel at the mosaic art. Luckily, there was a variety of places to get ice cream... More

To behold the wonder of monument and mighty works of humble yet gifted men is endless joy. Such masterpieces built by the hands of someone's father, son or brother. All that laboured must have found peace in their lives and rest in their souls. They do not create beauty and exqisite craftmanship in this world today as was done in... More

OVERALL: A super-sized Palatina Chapel (Palermo Royal Palace) with great mosaic artistry. Outside, great hiltop views of Palermo. HELPFUL TIP: 1) BATHROOM is at the cafe across the courtyard. The Duomo does not have one. Buy a well-priced cappuccino and a little relief :-). 2) BINOCULARS - the security ropes make seeing the mosaic detail over the alter difficult

Probably the second most beautiful thing I have seen in my life ! Don't leave Palermo without seeing it .It is about 6km away , you need to find transport or ask a guide , even better . Count at least an hour and half for the visit . Mosaics and beauty like you have never experienced . A jewel... More

This is a MUST SEE attraction. Bring binoculars. Bring a zoom lens for your camera. Take time to savor the mosaic art. The quality, detail, beauty and amount of the mosaic art is overwhelming. We were lucky enough to attend an evening service where we had the time and quiet to absorb their beauty. This is easy to do on... More

Attended Christmas Mass here, plus many visits to see beautiful mosaics. Parking hard to come by, better idea to walk into town if possible.

I've traveled all around the world. My wife and I are of Catholic culture and have seen many churches. This is in the top three churches I've ever seen. Besides St. Mark's in Venice, and the Sistine Chapel, this is one of the best. Every square inch is a marvel inside and out. The town is beautiful with great views... More

After all the glowing reviews, I was a bit underwhelmed by the Duomo di Monreale. Maybe because I had seen the Capella Palatina just before taking the bus up the hill. Yes, the mosaics are beautiful, but it seemed just more of the same (see photos). Despite being it the off-season, there was a long line to get in just... More

The Cathedral and Cloister are more than worth the trip to Monreale! You will find another a spectacular World Heritage site with mosaics like this only in Istanbul or of course here in Sicily. Incredible craftsmanship and overwhelmingly beautiful Cathedral.
