Chandanwari is famous in pilgrims. We visited this place in off season. It was serene and delightful. Tourists can trek towards Amarnath Cave. We liked chandanwari more than Betaab valley and Aru valley in Pahalgam.

It was an amazing experience to see the ice still remaining from Feb when we went in August! The river Sheshnag cutting through and flowing through the ice was truly beautiful! The starting point to the Amarnath yatra by steps was here.

If one is visiting after Gulmarg at a time when snow is still around, one can avoid it. In general a good scenic place.

you can start. you have to hire the local vehicles controlled by the union for going to chandanwari. we did see many outstation vehicles self driven as well. There are plenty of vehicles for hire are available.
