It was built at the beginning of the 19th century as a workshop and home for animportant manufacturer from Terrassa.
Original mural paintings have been preserved from this period. Major refurbishment in 1911 converted the building into a model for middle-class housing in Terrassa in an eclectic style within the Modernist movement.
Of particular importance are paintings by Alexandre de Riquer which are presently on display in the dining room. In the different rooms of this building, visitors appreciate collections of great interest such as the Salvans collection of Far Eastern art, paintings by Martinez Lozano, drawings by Mateu Avellaneda and the legacies of the writers Agusti Bartra and Ferran Canyameres
